The Lowdown

The “Grand” in its name doesn’t lie. When you step into the lobby of the five-star Westin Grand Berlin, the first thing you’ll see is an elegant open staircase and captivating 100-foot atrium, crowned by a stunning glass ceiling. Throughout this luxe hotel – with interiors hallmarked by warm neutrals and muted colors, combined with timeless details – you’ll find a spa, renowned restaurant, panoramic bar and summer terrace, perfect for relaxing in between bouts of sightseeing.
Waking up to views of the hotel’s idyllic garden, you’d be forgiven for forgetting you’re in the city, but as soon as you step outside, there’ll be no doubt you’re in the German capital. This TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner is located right in the beating heart of Berlin, in the city’s center, or “Mitte.” A short stroll from the hotel, you can explore Friedrichstrasse, Unter den Linden, The Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag or Potsdamer Platz, where history and the city’s brand-new contemporary vibes meet.

Decorated in warm, neutral tones, Garden Deluxe rooms boast views of the hotel’s tranquil private garden.

Visit Emotion Spa, which offers a range of sophisticated treatments to soothe you from head to toe. Relax in the indoor heated pool with a whirlpool in a truly tranquil setting. For a post-sightseeing treat, try the Heavenly Relaxing Treatment, including the Oriental Experience Massage and the Wild Rose Brilliance Facial.

The menu at Relish restaurant offers modern creative dishes incorporating the region’s whole foods. Try the daily “surprise me” dish crafted by Chef Peter Hampl – the plates burst with flavor and seasonal regional produce. Before dinner, The Lobby Bar, with its panoramic windows, is an ideal spot to soak up city scenes with a glass of champagne in hand. If the weather allows, it’s well worth venturing onto the summer terrace overlooking Friedrichstrasse to watch the world go by.

The hotel boasts a prime address right in the center of Berlin. Situated at the junction of Friedrichstrasse and Unter den Linden, you’ll be in the perfect place to explore everything from the Brandenburg Gate and Gendarmenmarkt to Museum Island and Potsdamer Platz.

Superb service and location

The location is excellent - easy walking to Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenberg Gate and the Tiergarten. Check in was smooth and the rooms are large and great value for the price. The interior is very grand and the lifts are plentiful and quick. The only niggle was the bar prices - far higher than similar bars in the vicinity.

Solid business stop.

Its tough to critique a Westin, they do business travel 100% amazing. Great comfortable bed, warm and cozy, and quiet for a good night sleep. Skip the busy and overpriced breakfast and walk down the street to Einstein Cafe. Internet works well and the lobby area has good food and is great for a meeting. The hotel is extra accommodating. Not sure how well is works for a romantic getaway, but is within walking distance of all sites.

Very good

I felt Marlon Brando when going through the steps of the escalator. Or Clark Gable... seriously speaking very good hôtel worth stopping in. Will come back with family definitely. Good beer served on the bar.

Lovely short break In Berlin

Absolutely loved this hotel. The interior is as grand as it’s name suggests. We had a lovely family room on the 5th floor where we had some fantastic views of Berlin. The room was very clean, bed comfortable and shower very good. Good was good in the hotel with good selection for breakfast including a glass of bubbly. My only criticism would be the bar menu was quite limited. If you are staying more than a couple of nights you will need to find somewhere else to eat. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Particularly the concierge who helped us sort out our missing bus tickets. Would have given the hotel a 5 if the menu had been a bit more exciting. Highly recommend however.

Horrible experience
Reviewed 4 days ago

I booked a room on booking for 3 persons...the room was extremely small and we wanted another room but were available only expensive rooms and had to pay 200-400 euro more. We arrived at 3 pm and they said the room is not ready, waited until 5 pm. We had to pay for spa even this wasn’t written on booking. Also the card pos didn’t work and we pay cash even if we booked online on booking. We wanted the money back to go on another hotel and the reception personal became rude and didn’t want to give us the money back, even we didn’t stay a minute and we paid cash. In the end, we lost whole day and checked in at 7 pm in the hotel. Also we had to let 100 euro at reception in case we use something from hotel (drinks spa), then they give us back during check out. First time ever when we had this horrible experience at a 5 stars hotel. And we stay very often at 5 stars in city breaks.
