How to Get There
Located on busy Frederichstrasse next to public transportation lines and walking distance to many important Berlin sites, this modern and well-appointed hotel was perfect for our 6 night stay. Rooms are lovely, reception and wait staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it without reservations to anyone looking for a great hotel in Berlin. And, oh yes, the air conditioning worked beautifully during a four day unseasonably hot heat wave in Berlin!
We stayed here for five nights to meet up with friends who had recommended it and were also staying at this hotel. Everything about the hotel was excellent (with a couple of very small annoyances - see below). Our room (large and bright with a huge TV and full length mirror) was modern, clean and very comfortable. The coffee in the room was so tasty (first very small annoyance: pity the machine is not quieter though!) and every thought had gone into making it an enjoyable stay. The second very small annoyance was the need for us to obtain one key each evening at reception because we always left one key in the slot to control the air conditioning (so our room stayed cool for our return). That key was always removed by the cleaners and never returned! To sum up ... a lovely hotel in a very good location for sightseeing. We shall return.
I travel frequently and am fairly picky when it comes to hotels, so it's not so often that I want to go back to a specific hotel. NH Collection Friedrichstrasse is one of the few exceptions in that category, and my most recent stay, a weekend, was certainly not the first - nor the last - in this hotel.
When it comes to what is best about this hotel, I'm torn between the location and the service. In the end, I'll learn towards the service. It's rarely that a hotel manages to exceed my expectations, but this hotel actually has managed to do so _every_ time I'm there!
The reception staff is super professional and make me feel like home by welcoming me 'back', not just welcoming me to the hotel. It's frustrating to get the same question "is this your first stay with us?" when you're checking in a specific hotel for the nth time. The rooms are modern, elegant and in my opinion, perfectly equipped: no necessities are missing, but also there is no over the top bells and whistles, like a fancy tray for your shoes, shall you wish to leave them outside your door to be polished while you sleep. I enjoy the colour scheme in this hotel; it's fairly Nordic with light colours with a splash of red.
During the day, they set up this complimentary refreshment bar in the lobby area, with water and some small snacks such as gummy bears (they should really hide those from me) and fruit. A very nice touch if you ask me.
My last visit I stayed in an amazing, large corner room that had windows that extended from the floor to ceiling, and a massive terrace (probably larger than the room itself) that went around two two sides of the room. I can imagine the view would have been amazing in perfect summer weather.
I adore large bathrooms and this hotel always allows me to live my dream of a luxurious, large bathroom.
The location of this hotel is a massive bonus: no matter which airport in Berlin you arrive on, a taxi will take no more than 30 minutes and cost less than 30 euros. The train station, Friedrichstrasse, is literally across the street and will take you to almost any direction in Berlin by tram, underground or the train.
There are kiosks, cafes and all kinds of shops around the station, as well as the excellent shopping possibilities along Friedrichstrasse. It really doesn't get more convenient than this!
But those that really appreciate good service will be happy to meet the guest relations manager, David. He has gone out of his way to make my stay memorable, and it's hardcore professionals like him that usually ensure that I return to a specific hotel. This hotel might not have an official 5-star status, but the service is far better and more genuine than most 5-star hotels I've stayed in.
I can't wait for my next stay in this hotel.
This was our first visit to Berlin, and we were not disappointed. The NH Collection hotel was a real find. Could not fault it. Location was great right next to the train station but also within walking distance to many sights, cafe's ,restaurants etc. Rooms spotlessly clean and breakfast was a real treat. lots of healthy fresh food and a chef cooking eggs etc. Would definitely stay here again.
Enjoyed week at this well-located hotel, within walking distance of Reichstag and Museum Island. Understated luxury at a key transportation hub for streetcars, subway lines and above-ground urban trains, part of Berlin’s forward-looking transit system. Afternoon snack table includes apples and bottled water. A Starbucks is next door, a Rewe grocery store is a two-minute walk. Also nearby is a giant Dussmann bookstore with a very large stone Egyptian sphinx on loan from Museum Island.
