Going high-end in Berlin will typically mean opting for cutting-edge modern design or the polar opposite: classical, time-proven luxury. Kempinski Hotel Bristol Berlin fits into the latter category, showcasing old-school European elegance, discreet service and a stunning location on the Kurfürstendamm. Staying on this iconic avenue, you’ll be steps away from luxury boutiques, hip cafés and exquisite restaurants.
Opposite the Uhlandstraße U-Bahn station and minutes from the famous Berlin Zoo, this five-star gem is one of the city’s landmark hotels. Inside, there’s a fine-dining restaurant, a brasserie and a piano bar, plus an upscale spa with a beautiful heated pool and a thermal zone. And that’s not to mention your lovely guest room, where you’ll find regal décor, high-end furnishings and all the mod cons needed for a serene stay in this trendy town.
Each of the 323-square-foot Superior rooms is appointed in a traditionally elegant style and includes a marble en-suite with a bathtub. For a bit more room, upgrade to a Junior suite, where you’ll find 484 square feet of space, as well as a spacious seating area.
Gourmet cuisine is served in the hotel’s Kempinski Grill, and French cuisine can be found at Reinhard’s at Kurfürstendamm, complete with a terrace overlooking the famous avenue. For drinks and cocktails, head to the Gobelin Halle lounge or Bristol Bar.
Keeping with the elegance of the hotel, the spa exudes European sophistication. Facilities include a heated, 59-foot pool, a sauna, a steam room with a cold-water plunge pool, a solarium, a pool bar and a fitness center. A range of high-end therapies and treatments are available.
Located in central Berlin, west of Tiergarten, the hotel sits right on Kurfürstendamm, the famous shopping boulevard, just a short walk from the lovely KaDeWe department store. Its position, opposite the Uhlandstraße U-Bahn station, ensures easy access to just about every Berlin neighborhood, and it’s only a five-minute walk from Berlin Zoo.
How to Get There
My first stay in the Bristol/Kempinski and I'd be very pleased to return. Everything went well: a friendly and professional welcome; very nice room (although I couldn't find a printed TV guide anywhere); good atmosphere in the bar and a good breakfast. The pool and sauna complex is excellent.
Some of the front desk staff were great. That was the only good thing about my whole stay.
The rooms are just tired. Very tired. What you see in the pictures are not what you get. My room had stains in the carpet, Bathroom looked like it was 30 years old. Tiles were stained, not from poor cleaning, but just because they are old. No anti-slippage mat in the tub/shower. I almost fell 3 times getting out, this was later rectified by putting in a mat.
The worst issue was however that I had specifically requested no feathers in the room due to allergies. Feathers were present and I had to remove pillow and duvet and use the other one in the room. When complaining about this to the manager, he promised it would be fixed.
When I got back 2 hours later, the same things were still there, so I got hold of a housekeeper staff myself and had her physically remove the things from the room. I then went down to the manager again and told him what had happened. He apologized, but that was also it. He claims that he spoke to the housekeeping staff but apparently message did not come through.
I see here that it now says Hotel Bristol Berlin (Formerly Kempinski Hotel Bristol) O can see why they would choose to drop this hotel out of their portfolio.
To other travelers, my advice is to look for something else as this place badly needs updating and I will certainly not be staying there again.
Top notch hotel in every respect. Location is terrific, staff is very responsive. The rooms in the renovated section are fantastic. The food in the restaurant is very good as is the breakfast selection. I will definitely stay at this hotel when I am next in Berlin
