Germany’s metropolitan capital, Berlin, strikes a fine balance between its storied past and its ultra-modern present. In fact, striking contrast is present everywhere you look in Berlin – vibrant street art is juxtaposed with renowned galleries while white-tablecloth restaurants neighbor funky, bohemian cafés. As a European center for art, fashion, shopping, music and pretty much everything else, this city promises to keep you begging for more.
The four-star Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Berlin City West offers a comfortable and contemporary base from which to springboard out into the fray. Its convenient location near a U-Bahn station puts the best of Berlin within easy reach. And when you’ve had your fill for the day, head back to the hotel to unwind in the wellness area (perhaps with a sauna session or a massage?). Then, venture upward, to the seventh-floor restaurant, where you can enjoy a Mediterranean dinner to a backdrop of wonderful city views.
Deluxe rooms offer all you’ll need in contemporary comforts. Each comes with an excellent range of amenities, including underfloor heating in the bathroom and high-speed Internet access.
Head to the seventh floor, and you’ll find an à la carte restaurant offering both a Mediterranean menu and wonderful views over the city’s skyline.
Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Berlin City West lies less than a mile from the famous shopping street of Kurfürstendamm, and Güntzelstrasse underground station is just a two-minute walk away, putting the rest of the city’s famous sights within easy reach. From historical attractions, such as the Berlin Wall Memorial and Checkpoint Charlie, to renowned modern art museums and 24-hour nightclubs, the list of must-sees in this city is sure to keep you busy.
How to Get There
Extremely expensive room in which it was impossible to rest because of the noise of the street ( a 6 canal car way) and the inexistence of climatisation ( only warm air but not cold). The services doesn't exist, there is only one person in a very small desk of reception, and for the price of 240 euros per night we have not breakfast included, but, sincerely, we don't regret, in view of the bad quality offered in this place.
Really nice rooms, great location with lots of places to eat and drink nearby. Tea facilities for the Brits. I was here at St Nicholas Day and woke to find a chocolate Santa outside every room in the morning. Nice touch!
However, as others have noted, check-in is remarkably slow, and as the hotel has no AC, you might want to give it a miss in the summer. Although the windows open, they open onto a very noisy junction (but no noise problems when the windows are closed).
Stayed here in April 2018
The hotel it’s self is very clean today and modern and looks well maintained! And staff were fine.
The only downside I had it was far to warm in the rooms no air-con and the WiFi was extremely slow.
Stayed here for two nights for leisure. The hotel is modern with comfortable bedrooms and relatively spacious. Check-in/out was simple and quick, staff were very efficient and friendly. The reception is on the first floor, but there is a lift...
It's about 30mins by taxi from Tegel (no traffic), around 45min to 1 hour by public transport. Public transport does requires two changes (bus/UBahn) - this is more a problem with Tegel not having a UBahn connection.
It's relatively well located. Main attractions are ca. 15-min UBahn ride away - but of course you will pay a lot more to stay right in the centre! The UBahn is frequent and efficient, so this shouldn't put you off.
Kreuzberg has its own restaurants and bars, so there are plenty of places to eat and drink within a few steps, and a couple of pubs across the street. A 5 minute walk will get you to a lot more restaurants/pubs. It was nice to have a busy day sightseeing and retreat back to Kreuzberg to chill out in the evening. There are also nightclubs close by - although I'm now too old to be doing that!
... that someone in a hotel asked me every morning “how did you sleep with us?” Yes I’ve heard “how was your stay” and “did you have a good time” at the end.
But - as you may know - this also happens once in 30 stays only.
So here for more details: check-in/out staff was super friendly and welcoming. Took less than 3min. My room was not super spacious but enough to stay for a 2-day business trip.
Breakfast was extremely good, and the lady at breakfast was very friendly and helpful too.
The hotel is more or less central, but there are tons of bars and restaurants in walking distance (2-3min).
If there was one thing that made up the missing star, it’s the bathroom. While it was clean, it didn’t look very clean. That’s because the equipment looked a bit dated actually and after the shower, the bathroom was underwater.
But that’s really a small thing - I’d definitely come back.
