How to Get There
It was a very good experience. Very spacious room for a 4 member family. Gluten free options for breakfast were also available. Our kids would definately recomend it. And so would we. Try the "surprize button" on the elevator!
We spent five days at the hotel, we are a family of four. We stayed at the 402 room, which was really nice and large and clean and warm (it was freaking cold outside), with a separate room for our wardrobe. The reseption staff was willing to help at any time. Special thanks to all, but especially to the thin blonde girl with the glasses - sorry I don't know her name. Her english was very good, she was very clever and she shared all the necessary information, giving us maps and everything. The hotel is situated in a very nice neighbourhood, full of chic restaurants and beautiful buildings, 600 meters from the zoo and very close to Ku'damm (3 minutes walk). 250 meters away there is an U metro station. Although it was really near the city center, it was very quite. Everyday they offered bottles of water for free, which we really appreciated - the small bottles of water cost from 2-5 euros each.
From the reception you can buy tickets for public transport, which is really useful and saves time. The matresses were reaaaally comfortable and everyday they place an "announcement" piece of paper at the door, with the period's highlights, pure bliss.
The breakfast was rather poor and quite expencive, 18 euros per adult. The 1st of January they should be more organised, since most of the residents woke up late (as expected) and it seemed like they all went for breakfast at the same time. There were only two girls from the staff, who really did their best, but unfortunately that was not enough. The buffet emptied in seconds and we had to wait for long to be served again. Do you know how kids act when hungry? That was not good and I think it could be fixed.
Another thing we did not like was the fact that, although the room was very clean generally, the tables near the beds were not! We had left some used patches and a glass we found broken and they never took them, I don't know try why.
Although I could put 4 stars, we were really satisfied overall, so I give 5 stars and I highly recommend this hotel!
Despite the reduced reception hours because of the Christmas holiday, I loved the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. They gave us the instructions for checking out and everything worked out. Breakfast was easy delicious. And the accommodations for a family of 4 adults were better than expected.
I stayed at Hotel Otto with my family from 26/12 to 30/12 and it was a very very good experience.
The room was very large with all the supplies you need to have relax (we have Tv with no Italian channels, only German and English spoken channel... but it was not a problem) and sleep comfortably.
The breakfast was excellent, both continental and UK, with fresh products and delicious cakes.
The staff was friendly and professional to solve all the issues we had.
The position is great, 5 minutes’ walk far from the U2 line, with which in 15 minutes we were at the city center.
Great experience. I warmly suggest this hotel if You intend to travel with your family and spend some day to visit Berlin.
Hotel Otto was an excellent choice for me. I was in Berlin on a budget and was so impressed with the service and the room. The room is basic but it is quiet, clean, and breakfast is absolutely amazing!!!!!!
I arrived early and was able to store by luggage until check-in which was super convenient.
I left my eyeglasses in the room and contacted the hotel about a week after I had returned to the USA. The staff were so gracious and mailed my eyeglasses back to me promptly.
I will definitely stay here again.
Did I mention the breakfast :) - heaven !!
