How to Get There
I was in Berlin for a conference at TUBerlin, and stayed at Hotel Otto. The stay was absolutely wonderful. The staff at the front desk is kind and helpful. Most of the staff speak english. The room was very spacious with lots of light and a large door/window to let in the breeze. The bed was comfortable and warm, and the bathroom had everything we needed to get ready in the morning. The breakfast is an absolute treat, and it was sunny on our last day, so we had breakfast on the terrace. They also have cake and tea or coffee free from 2-5pm on the top floor terrace as well. We checked out early on our last day to do some sightseeing, and they have free luggage storage. It is also very close to great restaurants and a coffee shop, as well as close to the S-Bahn. Highly recommended.
My son and I stayed at Hotel Otto for four nights recently on a visit to Berlin. It's a smallish hotel located in a nice neighbourhood near Tiergarten. The good is that the staff are very helpful and speak great English which makes up for my limited German. The breakfast is the other outstanding feature. It's hands down the best hotel breakfast I've had. The jam is amazing and the whole range is nice and healthy. Another nice feature is the free coffee and cake from 2pm to 5pm daily. This was something that my son and I would always make an effort to get to, nice way to relax after a day of sightseeing.
The only downsides for us was that our room was pretty small and this is not a hotel with a wide range of facilities.
It was easy to get to and from the airport from the hotel. We took the X9 bus from the airport which dropped us very near the hotel and only takes about 20 minutes, if that. Also good travel options from the hotel with an U bahn station a few minutes away and an S bahn about 5-10 mins away.
Quite a few dining options around in the neighbourhood. Just make sure you book for the better restaurants.
Overall this is a good choice hotel in Berlin and I would stay again.
Hotel Otto has been an amazing hotel for our vacation to Berlin. The breakfast and afternoon coffee break were especially great! The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the location was perfect, close to much of the city while very peaceful and quiet.
Small private brand hotel - good rooms - good service and delicious breakfast. Further you have the possibility to book a parking space at the hotel. At the very top of the hotel you find their lounge where breakfast is served and you can enjoy a view of Berlins rooftops. Only minus is that the elevator does not go the entire way to the lounge so you have to walk three flights of stairs.
The Hotel Otto is quite unconventional. Probably not easy for handicapped people. My room, Superior, was very spacious and had an own kitchenette. Nice furniture, bed quite comfortable, bathroom simple but clean. The whole setup is modern and interesting. Recommendable.
