The Lowdown

Holiday Inn Berlin, located in the city’s Friedrichshain district, is conveniently close to main transport hubs but far enough that you can enjoy peace and quiet, and a sound night’s sleep as soon as your head hits the pillow.
Offering a modern and cosy stay full of comfort and quality facilities, the hotel offers an easy and fuss-free stay – so you can focus on making the most out of a break in this culturally-acclaimed metropolis. Although simple, the interiors are by no means boring: bright shades and warm, wooden furnishings feature alongside fun, quirky ornaments.
Helpful amenities here include a health and fitness centre, 24-hour guest lounge, ice machine, a stream of business services and safety deposit boxes at reception. Just down the road is the very memorable East Side Gallery, and a brief tram ride will take you directly to shops, cafés, galleries and more historical landmarks.

City Break

Hotel was great. Just as you’d expect from a Holiday Inn. Immaculately clean and room was a good size. There is a Starbucks and restaurant bar on site.
The hotel is a ten minute walk from Watschauer Station on the S9 train from
Schönefeld Airport. Just stay left as you come out the station, down the steps and walk round past East Side Mall you can’t miss it. Within walking distance of East Side Gallery and Burgermeister across the bridge.
I’d definitely stay here again. Best city in Europe and one of the easiest to get around cheaply.

Nice Hotel, In a Busy Part of Town - Pants, Inconsistent Internet

New hotel in a modern part of town getting to it from the airport a bit of a pain currently due to road works, but that is not the hotels fault.

Nice welcome, easy bright reception and a nice comfy bar area, both with excellent staff that speak English.

The hotel free internet at 2.56 MBs download is pants, the tethered data speed was 126 MBs off my phone. So, operating as a remote worker using emails, video conferencing and just being in the 21st century it was difficult to see how the hotel could see this service as acceptable….However, on the morning I was leaving the speed shot up to 43MBs, this is due to a bandwidth limited installation that will just hack people off when the hotels full.

Breakfast was ok, plenty of variety and well laid out.
The rooms were well appointed and clean, some wear and tear, but nothing of a problem.

Would I stop here again, why not, it’s clean and a good bar area, but it would only get one more chance as the internet was that bad.

The Wifi is so bad its almost non existent

We had a team go out to Berlin for a conference and they stayed at the Holiday Inn Berlin City East Side. They had a very hard time connecting to anything via the wifi. They were unable to successfully connect to meetings, video conferences, anything that required wifi at this hotel. We will not be staying again
