Behind an elegant brick façade in Berlin’s City West district (within easy reach of blockbuster sights and steps from the Kurfürstendamm shopping boulevard), the H10 combines sleek modern interiors and original design features from its previous incarnation as a 19th-century schoolhouse. The airy lobby has an opaque glass ceiling and is decorated with custom-designed chrome and leather furniture and an eye-catching metal sculpture of a diver in midleap. The historic wing preserves traditional high ceilings and large windows, and everything works like a well-oiled machine at this warm and welcoming city crash pad.
Bed and Bath
The streamlined look of the public areas continues in the light-drenched guestrooms, which pack plenty of style and amenities into a fairly compact space. All offer free WiFi, wall-mounted LED TVs and AC, and rooms in the Privilege category feature such perks as a Nespresso coffeemaker, a pillow menu and access to a private lounge for free snacks and beverages. The fluffy robes and slippers come in handy for trips down to the spa. The sparkling bathrooms feature rain showers, plenty of counter space and a full complement of H10-branded amenities. The 199 rooms are split between the historical wing and a modern annex.
The lobby feels like an oversize living room where guests can pick up a tome in the reading lounge, surf the web in the business corner, or lounge on a Bedouin-inspired armchair in the bar. Off to one side, the Salt + Pepper restaurant serves modern international favorites; it doubles as a breakfast lounge until 11 a.m. After a full day of sightseeing, kick back with tapas and cocktails on the quiet garden terrace, or hit the petite but stylish spa for a sauna, steam or massage.
In the Area
Situated in the City West district, the H10 is mere steps from the Kurfürstendamm, Berlin’s top shopping boulevard, a two-mile cosmopolitan cocktail of designer labels, hip boutiques and the century-old department store KaDeWe, with its must-see food hall. Have lunch here or take a shopping break in the enchanting garden of the Café im Literaturhaus. Nearby, the Story of Berlin multimedia museum delivers an edutaining introduction to the city’s turbulent history, including a tour of a Cold War atomic bomb shelter. Younger travelers will be enthralled by the critters at the Berlin Zoo, which is part of the vast Tiergarten, which has rambling paths, idyllic ponds and fun beer gardens including the Café am Neuen See.
How to Get There
After 40 hours of travel the H10 Ku’damm was a welcome site and did not disappoint, its location is very good and makes it easy to access many services when you are a visitor to a city. Tourist transport, buses and trains are with minutes from the hotel. The rooms are comfortable, great bed and with very good bathroom essentials, sometimes it is the smaller things that can make a difference. Breakfast by far was one of the best we have experienced when travelling, so much to choose from with a great variety. The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating, especially the lovely Jander. The bar makes an impressive gin and tonic after a long day of exploring. There was only one negative to our visit, that being the restaurant was not operating during our stay. The bar menu was available but after a long day, something more substantial maybe preferred. There are however several restaurants in close proximity. Totally enjoyable stay and will happily return if ever we return to Berlin.
Nice hotel, very modern rooms. Perfect location.
But the main reason I'll come back is the phisiotherapist in the Spa, Silke Voigt, one of the best ever met in 55 years of regular massage. We also used meeting rooms and they were quite good, with natural light and good coffee breaks
I stayed at the H10 Berlin Ku'damm about 3 weeks ago and had a wonderful relaxing stay. I was in Berlin for business and leisure. The breakfast was also very good and had many options to choose from.
Most Importantly the message I received at the spa from Silke was absolutely amazing and hands down the best message I've ever had and I have had quite a few, attempting to work out tension in my back that has been there for months/years. I was never able to even pop my back due to the tension and stress but now, three weeks later, I'm standing up taller and straighter and I don't feel a constant knot in my back. I can know crack my vertebrae when stretching and it feel amazing and relieving. I will certainly be back to see her again and I owe her a tip because for some reason at the front desk I wasn't able to leave her one. THANK YOU SO MUCH SILKE AND H10 Ku'damm for a wonderful week in Berlin!
