How to Get There
With a group we wanted to book this particular hotel for a 3 days stay in October. I have contacted the hotel nearly a month ago, and I was told to send an email, what I did to the info@ and to the sales@ email addresses. It's been past a week, no answer. I called again, I was transfered to the "conference" team. The lady answering the phone was very kind and asked me to resend my email to conference@, and I did so. A few days later I have sent another email. And now it's over two weeks since then. From a four-star hotel I would expect a much better customer service when booking for several rooms.
We have just come back from a 5 day stay at the Hotel berlin.
There were 4 of us travelling and we had deliberately booked 2 twin rooms spent a long time trying to find a hotel that had twin rooms and booked the hotel berlin purely because of this (we were travelling with an 18 year old boy and a 14 year old girl).
Once we got to the hotel and checked in, we were met by rude and un-interested staff.
We got to our rooms to find that we had been allocated double beds in both rooms.
We went downstairs to complain and were met again by rude and very unfriendly staff on the desk who then refused to do anything or co-operate.
We spoke to the duty manager who said there was nothing they could do - she also stated that all twin rooms had been block booked over a year ago. When asked why they were still advertising twin rooms for sale, she couldnt answer. She just kept saying the twin rooms were just a request.
To our amazement, the duty manager said “you can sleep together, i’d sleep with my mother. If your not happy, one of you can sleep on the couch”
We had paid extra to have twin rooms and were now been told to sleep together or on a couch (there were no couches in the rooms) - not acceptable.
The next morning, we spoke to the manager, who confirmed that all twin rooms were block booked a year ago and there was nothing more they would do.
Also (as many have said), even though advertising the rooms as air-conditioned, they weren’t. The temperature in the rooms remained over 26 - 27 degrees while we were there.
A fair few athletes (who were there for the European athletics championships) were treat very differently by the staff to the "ordinary guest"
Stayed for two nights, check in was fast, great customer service. Had two separate rooms and both rooms were very clean each with their unique design. Breakfast was good with large selection of hot and cold items. Overall a great experience and would stay again. Front desk was very helpful at suggesting places to visit.
When we arrived, we found the staff very helpful and accommodating. The room itself was spacious and clean. The beds were large and comfy and in spite of being situated in a busy area we slept soundly. Breakfast was enjoyable and there was a wide range of choice. At times the breakfast area was rather crowded as a lot of people were all eating in a small place. The onsite restaurant was fantastic, equally the gym and onsite facilities were great. Overall an enjoyable stay.
Found this hotel easy to get to from the airport via public transport. When we arrived the room wasn't ready so we decided to have a bit to eat, the burger was really nice, much better than expected from a hotel
Location is good, if you don't mind a walk you can get to the Sony Centre in about 15 - 20 minutes. Alternatively there is a bus stop a short walk from the hotel that'll get you to the main attractions.
There are a few places to eat within a short walk if you don't fancy travelling further out.
The room was very good, nice size, well maintained and generally very comfortable, although I did have problems trying to work out how to make the air con work. WiFi worked well enough for streaming should you fancy an evening in.
