How to Get There
Dinner here was very good. The buffet was definitely worth the $30.00. The drinks were subpar in the “pour”, the service was sketchy, and the kitchen was slow. The food, including the prime rib, catfish, and ribs were excellent. Super desserts. About what you would expect in a dinner buffet.
Went to a conference with my husband. I enjoyed the resort style pool and hot tub with pool bar and snacks. Everyone was super nice and helpful. At all our meals at the resort. Food was great, but expensive. We also loved that a tram would take you straight to Stone Mountain Park and back. Will visit again.
I want to give this hotel a better review. We’ve had a nice stay. The lake is simply amazing. If you are coming with kids/family to enjoy the Stone Mountain lake, then stay here.
But this is not a luxury resort. As titanium elite members, our upgraded room was a corner suite. Which sounds great, except that it’s on the 4th floor - just steps away from the elevators and front desk. It’s the main walkway. And the doors are paper thin. And the bed - I’ve never seen anything like this - is right next to the door. I have never had a worse two nights sleep at any hotel, much less a Marriott resort hotel. Doors slamming, people peeing above us, entire family conversations in the halls - we heard it all down to the last detail. Starting at 7am (5am for us after a very long night of travel) and going all day and night. It’s obviously a problem, as there are “quiet zone” signs posted, but not noticed or adhered to by guests.
The rooms are old and outdated. The beds are flimsy. They are undergoing a renovation, so hopefully things will be nicer. I would still stay away from the “suites” as they are located on the front corner near the elevators and I don’t see how they can change the layout to move the bed to a quieter spot. The 4th floor is the main lobby level and the 5th floor is the highest floor. I would try the 5th floor in hopes of the quietest situation available. The pool is on the second floor.
We returned from a day on the lake (AMAZING!!!!!) at 3pm to a room that had still not been serviced. They did clean it in the next hour after I called, with apologies.
We are huge Marriott fans, and I love giving great reviews when appropriate, but this is not such a case. Sadly.
The breakfast buffet was very good with a great omelette bar. The pool is fine, not nice and not luxury and rather small. The restaurant and bar service and staff have been great. The view onto the lake from our balcony is breathtaking. But in the end if I don’t get a good nights sleep it’s not the place for me.
There are some fun little yurts in the camp area next door that might afford a better and much cheaper alternative to enjoy this amazing lake.
