How to Get There
Weekend stay here with the Mrs.. Honestly left a bit disappointed especially for what the room rates are. Our view of the lake was just tree line. No complimentary coffee in the lobby. When I came back from golfing at around 3PM the room wasn't made up. When I sat down before I had to leave the room at 4 they knocked on the door. I explained that I'd be leaving at 4 and they can do it then. 30 minutes later another knock. 15 minutes after that another knock. It got to be frustrating that they waited so long and then bothered me during my 1 hour that I had to get ready.
When we first got in the room our there was a puddle of water in the middle of the room from the refrigerator. they came about 30 minutes after we called to fix the issue.
As for the wedding reception on the lake it was absolutely picture perfect.
The Bullfrog bar restaurant closes at 11:45- make sure to check your receipt at the end of the night as they did try to charge me for drinks that I did not order.
If you like to grab something to eat after the bar closes you are out of luck. there are no options for food after about 11PM. No snack bar or kitchen inside the hotel and no one delivers.
If you are looking to golf here, don't hesitate! this course was beautiful, staff was friendly. complimentary snacks and beverage. I just cant stress how special and beautiful each hole on the course was.
Staff was friendly and the room was clean. No problems. Would stay here again if travelling through the area. We only stayed one night and did not take advantage of any of the amenities. Seems like a great place.
Stayed here 2 nights and was delighted at the accommodations and the surroundings. The personnel were very professional. The services were very good. The valet parking attendants were all around great.
Our family was really disappointed with the Lake Lanier Islands Resort hotel specifically. We stayed for one night with our 2 children. The focus of our trip was to spend most of our time at Margaritaville (which was awesome).
We live about an hour away from Lake Lanier and did not bring beach towels with us. We went to the pool to take a few towels with us to Margaritaville and were quickly scolded by the pool attendant stating we were not allowed to take the towels to Margaritaville. Her suggestion was to "buy" towels at the gift shop at Margaritaville. What type of resort tells their guests to buy towels? It's the most absurd thing I've ever heard of especially considering the room rate was $400 per night! I've never been to a hotel, much less a resort, that doesn't offer beach towels if there is a beach close to or on the property.
The resort really lacks catering to families in the evenings. They advertise a family movie night on the weekends and make it seem like it's going to be in a cool outdoor setting. When we showed up to watch the movie, it was being played in a conference room with conference chairs setup. The host was very gracious and did provide popcorn, but it just wasn't up to par with other family activities we've done at other resorts.
We stayed in the villas. The villas outside landscaping is gorgeous and the entire property has amazing views and beautiful foliage. However, the interior of the hotel is in need of renovations. The ceiling in our bathroom was peeling and the dock close to the lake behind the villas had holes the size of baseballs and soft spots in the wood from rot. I was afraid my children would get hurt just by walking on the deck.
My advice, don't waste your money staying at this property, especially if you live near the Atlanta area. My recommendation is to drive to Lake Lanier and enjoy Margaritaville for the day, this was by far our favorite part of the entire trip. Margaritaville is free to get into unless you want to ride the water slides. Their staff is super hospitable and friendly. There is so much to do there for all ages. We would have loved to enjoy more of the resort but there just wasn't enough to do in the evenings if you have children.
The staff (aside from the valet department and one lady at the front desk) are not friendly. They make you feel as if it's a privilege for you to be at their hotel. When asking about how to get around on the property, the recommendation is to drive everywhere. I thought this was strange because we saw several valet attendants shuttling people back and forth. We later learned, you can call the front desk and request a shuttle to pick you up. Why wouldn't the staff disclose and recommend this instead of stating we should drive everywhere? After all, we are on vacation and do not want to think about logistics.
Overall, I left with a sour taste in my mouth and for that reason, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone I know.
This hotel has so much potential. A few recommendations is to put more time and energy with training the staff as well as focus on the little things that wow guests. Just by doing those 2 things alone, I promise it would have made our trip much more enjoyable.
Beautiful Hotel and Magnificent Golf Course. The staff was very courteous and kind. I really like the rustic style decoration and the overall illumination in the different areas. Unfortunately this time I stayed on business for a couple of nights only but I really want to come back to enjoy the amenities.
