lovely rooms - good staff

Its a lovely property in downtown Atlanta, adjoining the metro and they also have residences adjoining it. I was there for nearly 5 days - was a bit cold so didnt use the pool but really liked the hotel. The rooms are well laid out - the tvs have an option of one using their own netflix passwords to log in and the bathrooms have excellent pressure in the shower. The only negative if any would be a limited vegetarian menu but I have the same problem at most places - excellent service as well so a big thumbs up.

Booked a room to do a little staycation in Atlanta with my wife. Was really excited to stay in a hotel based on some of the pictures and the amenities. Seriously this hotel is masquerading as a luxury hotel. It couldn't be further from the truth.

First off they put us on floor that was under construction and smelled of chemicals since they were pealing and replacing the wall paper. I honestly don't know why they placed us on this floor when the hotel was near empty.

Then came the unprofessionalism of the staff. I ordered some drinks to take to the pool from the hotel bar. They brought them to me in glass. I asked if this would be ok to take them out to the pool. The bartender assured me it shouldn't be a problem. So I assumed I guess they are lax at this hotel. Boy did I assume wrong. We finished our drink and got in the pool. Soon after a security guard came by, saw the glasses, and asked if they were ours. I said yes. Then he told us to get our stuff and leave. Seems like a rather excessive escalation for the "situation" at hand. I was trying to explain to him that the bartender is the one who said it would be ok. He of course interrupted me and said "Get your s*** and get the hell out of the pool."

Ok I understand there are rules for a reason but when you are paying in the neighborhood of $300 per night you think you would get some class. Are you really going to kick us out of a nearly empty pool and then curse at us over something so trivial? Guess so. It was obvious that I was dealing with a insecure man on a power trip who wasn't open to reason. So what are you going to do? Sit there an argue with such an inept individual. No. So we grabbed our stuff all the while being lorded over by this guy while he continued to try to instigate a scene. Telling us to hurry up or he would have us kicked out of the hotel. Seriously?

I have been a member of the SPG group for some time before they merged with the Marriott group and have had nothing but great experiences. And to be perfectly honest with you, I rarely complain. I've spent more than a quarter of a calendar year in SPG hotels and never complained once. I'm the type of person who typically extends grace to people and just looks the other way when I feel the service is lackluster. But this was just one of those experiences that just really rubbed me the wrong way.

I've seen some other post referring to how insane the security staff is at the hotel. I wish I would have come across it earlier. Though I would have never thought I'd be dealing with security since we came to celebrate our anniversary.

Oh well. The whole experience was just meh. I wouldn't return.

Too much noisy

What I sensed is happened. The hotel is located just near the Interstate 75. The acoustics of this hotel is poor of quality especially at the balcony door. We asked, from the first night, to change rooms, to move away from the Interstate 75 and change for a upper floor. But nothing really worked.
Thank you Jeffrey for your reactivity.
We stayed in this hotel for 3 days, we had a suite with a very nice surface and some very practical kitchen equipment.
The hotel is conveniently located near the Aquarium, the Coca Cola Museum and CNN. However, you can find other hotels closer in the city center.
I have many comments to make:
The condition of the room is to improve, many traces of rust, limestone and dust in bathrooms and showers, stains on the sheets.
The pool remains to improve, the water was cloudy and I did not want to bathe
The organization of the parking valet is to review, important traffic at the entrance or during your vehicle recovery, especially on Friday evening. You have to wait. Only one way for entrance and exit.
The breakfast service is way too long. 1 hour for lunch and I finally got up to ask my check. A waitress and a cook who struggles to convince and fortunately that the dining room was not full.
I do not know if the shared management of this hotel with the building apartments explains this situation, but there is something wrong here.
We will probably not return.
