How to Get There
I chose Twelve Midtown despite some inconsistent reviews and the lowest tripadvisor customer liked ranking that I'd ever considered staying at (3.8). The good appeared to outweigh the bad, so I took a chance and booked a room for my son's 12th birthday. The whole plan was kind of a "big deal" for my family. My son's older siblings, who no longer live home, were going to meet us in Atlanta and surprise him with tickets for "Wicked" at the Fox Theatre for his birthday. I was worried that the hotel might not live up to my hopeful expectations, so I called over a couple of times. The person who answered the first time, I think Verne, was very nice. She answered all of my questions and noted the file that it was my son's birthday; that I wanted a high floor, possibly an upgrade (as my husband is a silver Marriott Bonvoy member, and I am gold). I followed up later because I hadn't received an online notification to check in. I spoke with Marcus who was very nice and courteously advised me that the hotel's system was down and they could not look at any of the information. He said this problem was being worked on continually, and that it effected their downtown hotel as well. We arrived early (check in begins at 3 and we were there at 1). I knew the room might not be ready, but, Marcus had told me they could hold our bags if we arrived before the room's availability and wanted to go out. The system was still down and nobody was getting into a room unless they'd managed to check in previously. I asked for Kay (as I'd seen her mentioned very favorably by other reviewers). She was actually the person I was looking at standing at the front desk when we arrived. Kay explained that the system was still down. Marcus greeted us thereafter as well, and he was very kind and cheerful. Kay happily took down all of the information about my son's birthday, and told us they'd keep our bags and text or call when the system was up and the room was ready. They even offered up a free meal in their restaurant, but, we declined as we had plans to surprise my son with lunch with his siblings. We did have to wait until almost 5 pm, but, upon return to the hotel we were quickly handed our keys and we went to our room. The room was on the 6th floor (their highest in the building). It was a corner room with a totally separated bedroom (we'd had a partition so this was an upgrade); the view was stunning, the room was clean, and Kay and Marcus had seen to it that my little boy had birthday balloons, huge and delicious chocolate chip cookies, a fruit and cheese plate, and even a glass of milk placed in a stemmed glass and wrapped with saran wrap was waiting in the refrigerator. They also left him a birthday card! The next day the weather was beautiful and we were hoping to be able to walk around Atlantic Station a bit before heading home. Marcus accommodated us with a 4 p.m. late checkout, so we had the whole day to explore. As we left the hotel, Kay wasn't there, but, Marcus greeted my on by name and asked him how his birthday was. That made a huge impression on my son (and me as well). We went out to the valet to pick up our car. The two valets present insisted on helping us place the luggage in. They were extremely polite and cheerful and seemed genuinely glad to help). In all, this hotel was great despite their internal computer issues. The staff and the beautiful and immaculate room made this 12th birthday a "10" at the 12 for us all!
My fiancée and I stayed at Twelve Midtown for the first time on October 26th. And, we will definitely be back! This will be our new go-to hotel for the Atlantic Station area!
First impressions are EVERYTHING! And, Kayairrah set the tone of our stay perfectly. We are Marriott Gold Members and Kay made sure our stay reflected that! She delivered on her promise to make sure we were comfortable by placing the appropriate notes on our reservation to insure we got the room upgrade we desired! She exceeded our expectations! She couldn't have done better! Thank you Kay!
I also want to thank Marquez for working with my fiancée on the surprise rose petals, wine, and chocolate covered strawberries set up! What an incredible surprise that was! Thank you to all who signed the card congratulating us on our engagement!
This was one of my best stay in Atlanta for the past 15 years I've been here. I surprised my wife for her 39th birthday and decided to used twelve hotel midtown. At the front desk ms. Kayairrah by far gave me one of the most professional services I have ever experienced. I told her the reason for my stayed and she asked me what can she do to make my wife birthday even more special and I asked if she can decorate my room while we were out for dinner. Ms. Kay went crazy with it by decorating from the doorway straight to the bedroom with rose petals and candles. It had my wife screaming like she had just received a surprise engagement. The picture speaks for itself... thank Kay
