Neoclassical gem with a modern edge and a stylish lounge in the heart of downtown Atlanta

The Lowdown

There’s a hushed, moody sexiness to the lobby, all midnight blue banquettes, mirrored columns and chandeliers peeking from dark glass drums. It’s a modern update on the neoclassical elegance that has defined this downtown Atlanta gem for decades. Marble-tiled foyers lead to inviting living areas in each of the 444 rooms, 22 of which are suites with bay windows overlooking the city. In the Atlanta Grill, Chef Brian Jones reinterprets Southern flavors with dishes like scallops with black tea and mint mousseline, Georgia peaches, pork belly and pecans. If the weather cooperates, grab one of the sought-after seats on the pretty wrought-iron terrace. Afterwards, sidle up to the gilded Lumen Bar for old school cocktails and live jazz (Sunday through Thursday nights).

In the Area

The hotel is located on a quiet stretch just north of Atlanta’s bustling Midtown. For a taste of something purely Atlantan, head to The Colonnade, an old school joint serving up stiff cocktails and crispy fried chicken (leave room for a slice of apple pie). For nouveau Southern, try Restaurant Eugene’s molasses-doused foie gras on French toast and one of mixologist Greg Best’s inventive cocktails infused with homemade tinctures and bitters. Then take a walk through the leafy Piedmont Park Conservancy, an urban swath of poplar- and hickory-shaded paths. Look out for whale sharks and manta rays at the Georgia Aquarium, one of the world’s largest, or meander the expansive collection 19th- and 20th-century American and European art in architect Renzo Piano’s recently expanded High Museum. Need some retail therapy? Hop MARTA for a 30-ride to Buckhead, Atlanta’s most affluent suburban neighborhood and shopping mecca.

Nicest staff I have ever seen

Nicest staff I have ever seen. Beautiful design and furniture. Room was refurbished and comfortable. Very good place in downtown and every thing is nearby. Poor side for me was bed that was not comfortable for me, I couldn't sleep at nights well. I don't know it was related to the bed that was old or something wrong with it.

Family Friendly Trip

Literally everything was perfect from check-in to valet to club level amenities. The Club Level was in particular exceptional. Micah was amazing and the entire team went above and beyond. Cannot recommend enough.

Exception Hotel! Stellar Service (Many Thanks to Connie in the Business Center)

I was recently on a business trip to Atlanta and I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta Hotel in the downtown area. My stay was exceptional - everyone was so friendly and helpful, the room was impeccable, and I absolutely loved the decor. You can tell this hotel had so much history.

The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nicely decorated and appointed. I enjoyed the Asprey toiletries.

I wish to give a special thanks to Connie in the Business Center. She helped me out of a jam and I cannot say enough about her service and professionalism. If the GM is reading this, please give her a raise.

If I could give this hotel six stars, I would!
