How to Get There
We had stayed here the last time we attended the Atlanta Gift show 3 years ago. The hotel, especially the rooms need some major renovation. There is limited drawer space that is spread out thru the room. There was no clock in the room, we asked for one and received it. Unfortunately the person that brought it up did not set it.
The locations is beautiful, and, like all Hyatts, the rooms are spacious, and comfortable; however, my experience was truly frustrating.
As soon as I entered the room, I noticed an odd hissing sound; it turns out that, for some reason, the toilet was running, which it continued to do all night. I was told someone would be up to address it, but that didn't happen, and no offer of a different room was made. I could have lived with the noise (which you could hear even with the bathroom door closed), but combined with the fact the toiletries hadn't been replaced and there were hairs stuck to the shower wall, as well as the noise from the guests next door, it just added to the overall poor experience.
Typically I don't notice the door between rooms that's common at most Hyatts, but during my stay, the guests next door decided to open their side, make an extreme amount of noise, and bang on my door for fun around 12:30 - 1:00 AM. I called down to the desk again and they promised they'd take care of it; they may have, but not before this went on for about 25-30 minutes, with a reoccurrence an hour later.
I took the Hyatt guest survey after my stay, and noted the above details; I never received a response from Hyatt addressing them.
Based on my experiences at other Hyatts, this is definitely not the norm, but this location wouldn't be my first choice in the future.
Upon checking in, I was asked to insert my credit card. The price that showed up was $100 more than what I booked the room for online and it wasn’t explained to me why this was the case. The transaction was approved and I took my card out of the reader. The woman behind the desk said it didn’t go through and asked me to please insert my card again. I complied and after all of this, I had 3 charges on my credit card for the amount that was on the screen and I was told to “dispute the charges with the bank because it only shows that I was charged once on their end.” Upon checking out, I was given a receipt for my stay which had the original price I booked the room for as my amount paid. I then look at my bank statement again to find that on top of the 3 charges for the amount I was told I owed at check in, I now had an additional charge for the amount the was on the receipt I was given. In the end, I have now been charged over $1600 for a 2 night stay that should have only been just over $350. The charges are still pending, so I hope the 3 initial charges get removed before actually hitting my account. This has been the most frustrating hotel stay that I have ever had. It’s a beautiful hotel, but it was not worth this headache.
I love coming to Atlanta for the 4th of July. Staying at the Hyatt Midtown is conveniently located in order for me to visit family and to enjoy all of the festivities. It is a good spot for a race view
Clean and comfortable, up to date and inviting. Perfect location for race finish and for family to watch. Shortest walk back to a hotel for a shower after the race! Easy access to Marta to arrive at Race start. Hotel would be a good place to stay for midtown and downtown shopping and restaurant, there are many in walking distance.
