How to Get There
The Marshall House is the oldest hotel in Savannah - 15 foot ceilings, and lots of old charm in each room. Because it was built in the 1850, there aren't closets in the rooms, but really cool large armoires. There is a wine & cheese reception every evening and the server is very attentive to the guest, bringing around refills during the speaker or music selection. The buffet breakfast had a decent selection although it was the same daily, but with enough variety that you could vary what you had each morning. We had an issue with our room upon checkin - there was a funky smell (probably from a previous guest) and the front desk was able to move us to another room quickly. The front desk (Jennifer) was fantastic to work with. We even got a call from the hotel a few days before we arrived to check in with us and see if we needed anything specific during our stay - chain hotels certainly don't take the time to do that! The Marshall Hotel was centrally located between the Northern & Southern Historic Districts and a short walk to the Riverfront area.
We spent one night at the Marshall House in July 2019. The hotel is centrally located in the historic center of Savannah. We were greeted at the curb by a courtly gentleman who guided us into the lobby and got us checked in. The lobby and adjoining sitting room were very welcoming. Our room was more than adequate with first class furnishings. The morning included breakfast was excellent with a fine display of bacon, eggs, breads of all kinds, fruit of all kinds and excellent service. We would definitely stay there again in the future.
The hotel was all we had hoped for and more. The old charm was there as well as southern hospitality. The staff was exceptional and the evening wine and cheese was relaxing. We will be staying here again and highly recommend you do too.
My husband and I stayed several days for an anniversary trip, The Marshall House was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The entire staff was always friendly and incredibly helpful. We spoke with Tiffani the most and she made our stay extra special, even surprising us with wine and a handwritten card one night! Breakfast was delicious each morning and there is wine and cheese every night at 5. They also kept us hydrated with bottles of water in our room and at the door on our way out, they also offer the most refreshing cucumber water in the lobby, perfect after a stroll around Savannah. We loved the location of the Marshall House, it was right on the middle of downtown and within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to visit. We are already dreaming of when we can visit the Marshall House again!
We just passed through Savannah for a day and wanted to stay somewhere with historic character. Our kids are 14 and 8 and both loved the hotel as much as we did. We roamed the halls and hung out in the lobby just to take in the history and the vibe. Beautiful hotel, great history lesson from the General Manager during wine and cheese hour. The Marshall House is very generous with the wine 😉, some of which is private labeled for the hotel. Their concierge set us up last minute with the perfect city tour. I would stay here for a romantic trip and again with family.
