Disappointed in staff

We frequently travel to Galveston and one of our favorite stops has been the rooftop bar at the Tremont. We arrived a little after 9 pm following dinner on a Friday night. The bar was full of people. As we were trying to decide where to stand or sit a waitress came by and abruptly let us know they were closing at 10 due to the “dangerous” wind. I have lived in and visited Galveston my entire life....it is usually windy. We all kind of laughed. I am not sure what they were talking about as being seated you could hardly get a breeze. We ordered drinks from a different waitress who was polite and never mentioned the closing. Several time the the first waitress went around to let customers know they were going to close at 10, even trying to take drinks from customers. Our group felt the staff was trying to go home early. Upon exiting the hotel, another hotel staff member said that the current Rooftop Bar staff has a reputation for “finding reasons” to close early. This person indicated that it is a problem. Hope it is resolved soon. I would hate to hear that it closed due to lack of revenue.

My wife and I attended a weddding at The Tremont House this past weekend. We have a child that came with us.We used valet and was standing in the front questioning after valet told us the wedding was on the "corner entrance" We walked to the corner and didn't know exactly where. An employee asked us "How our day was" and I replied "can't find this wedding" He knew exactly what wedding and escorted us to the building.Dominick went all out for us and we were literally standing at the corner of the street.I later realized that the workers entrance is along the side street and without cameras or bosses around he chose to help us out on his own. This is only 1 of 2 employees that stood out.
Once we made it in and found our table, as parents were tired. We stayed at a close hotel and did not bring our travel bottle warmer. Our baby was too mad my wife was trying to hurry to make the bottle. An employee Yazmin was picking up dishes off the table and stopped everything to let me know that the kitchen has a microwave to warm the bottle unless it's breastmilk she can nuke the bottle in hot water.... My wife was in a mood because of lack of sleep all day till she offered to warm that bottle. She didn't have to do that but she did.Tremont house must really pick some great people to leave such an impact on our visit that I would write such a long review.

Great place to stay. Staff very friendly, helpful and attentive. Valet efficient and timely. Great location downtown which allows you to walk to the strip. One of the better places to stay on the island.

Close to Pier

We picked this hotel because it is close to the cruise pier in Galveston. It was clean and quite. This was a good overnight stay and the prices were good. We would recommend this hotel to others. We will stay again!!
