An inviting four-star hotel near the iconic Promenade des Anglais in Nice, Le Grimaldi exudes timeless French elegance with its romantic Belle Époque facade, classic wrought-iron balconies, interior marble staircase and welcoming Provence-style rooms. Containing two townhouses adjoined by a courtyard, this family-run hotel sits on a quiet street near the Gare de Nice-Ville train station.
Le Grimaldi boasts an excellent location, mere blocks from the beach and the seafront promenade. You won’t need to stroll far for classic French cafés, lovely boutiques and the popular Old Town. You’re also close to the city’s attractive main square, Place Massena, where you’ll find the famous Galleries Lafayette selling chic labels. Meanwhile, a fifteen-minute walk away, Nice’s famous Cours Saleya market provides a different kind of shopping experience. Split between flower and food stalls, it attracts people from miles around. Be sure to check it out on a Monday, when it becomes an antiques market.
Good to know
Please note that a city tax of €1.50 per person, per night is payable directly to the hotel upon check-out.
Superior rooms are decorated in a Provençal style, with soft, bright tones and classic wrought-iron bed frames. The rooms range from 270-370 square feet and feature queen-sized beds.
There is a continental breakfast buffet (that the French always get right) available from 7-10am. We recommend heading to one of the two large salons for afternoon tea, and an ice cream bar is open from 2-7pm. For other meals, the area around the hotel offers an abundance of tempting Provençal restaurants in the neighboring streets.
Situated just a five-minute walk from both the beach and the central railway station, Le Grimaldi sits on the quiet street which it was named after – Rue Grimaldi. Keep walking a few more minutes and you’ll be in Nice’s popular Old Town, full of cafés, restaurants, boutiques and bars.
How to Get There
The hotel's staff is super attentive and friendly. They gave me a lot of useful information about local tours and the best way to get around the French Riviera region. The hotel location is excellent, and its rooms are great too! I preferred not to have breakfast at the hotel because I found it too expensive - that is my only negative comment.
Staff was very nice and helpful. Welcoming, also. Rooms big and clean. I will come back! Reception area very cozy. 10 minutes to beach. 5 min from center. 10 minutes from old Nice and market. Close to pedestrian zone.
Location is Good, Service is Great, Clean. Staff are friendly and Helpful. Room a little bit small. Free Coffee at Lobby. Nearby main attraction. Breakfast need improvement. To give Compliment water per day might be good
We stayed at Hotel le Grimaldi for 3 nights. On arrival (and for the rest of the stay) the staff were lovely- happy, helpful and informative. The room was clean and bright. The only downside was the bathroom was a little scruffy with no extraction but we had the opportunity to say but didn’t feel it was necessary for the time we were there. The Lift in the back part of the hotel only holds 2 with a suitcase so if there was an influx of people it was a long climb to the 6th floor! But in a building of this age it is to be expected. The location was great - a short walk to everywhere. And so many restaurants close by (and a supermarket on the doorstep) you would definitely not starve!
We stayed in the Hotel Le Grimaldi for just one night, since we were going to Italy the following day. The staff was great and allowed us to check-in early.
The location is good, but in the old town 'action'. It is a pleasant 10 minutes walk to the majority of restaurants and the promenade des Anglais.
We decided not to have breakfast at the hotel due to the 15 euro fee, and opted to go to a nearby cafe instead.
The rooms were clean and well sized. Our room even had a walking closet!
