Hotel NH Nice
What We Love
- Contemporary comforts at a modern hotel in Nice, with a rooftop pool and easy access to the centre Kicking back on the stunning rooftop terrace, complete with a pool and a bar
- Enjoying traditional French Niçoise dishes at the exquisite on-site restaurant
- Opting for a suite stay and enjoying added space and extra luxuries
Regarded by many as the height of Gallic chic, a visit to the French Riviera capital of Nice is at the top of many a visitor’s wish list. Positioned a little way from the city’s central bustle, Hotel NH Nice makes a great option for both exploring the historic centre and the French Riviera’s wider environs. Housed in an imposing modern white building, its real selling point has to be its magnificent rooftop terrace, cooled by welcome breezes in the hot summer months.
Here you can flop in the rooftop pool (with towels and loungers supplied), hot it up in the sauna, chill out by the bar or enjoy a refined meal at the restaurant. It all makes for a highly civilised way to begin or end each day. Guestrooms and suites are equally polished and make for stylish retreats, with gleaming hardwood floors and a cool contemporary air. Work off any excess energy after a day’s sightseeing or beach lazing in the on-site gym on the sixth floor, which is kitted out with the latest equipment.
How to Get There
We booked a short break for our 1st trip to Nice & chose the NH Nice we were not disappointed. First impressions of the location were not great being set back from the centre, however our impressions changed as soon as we entered all the staff were excellent friendly & so helpful we mentioned it was our anniversary & when we returned to our room there was a bottle of wine & dessert (Thankyou NH).Breakfast was really good plenty of choice (the omelettes were really tasty)Our room was good & clean, there is a rooftop pool & bar with free towels Outside the hotel is a tram stop buy a 10 trip ticket for 10 journeys at10 euros a good buy.
We spent four nights at the hotel and on two days our room wasnt cleaned. On first occasion they eventually responded to our request, but on the second occasion they turned up at 6.00pm when we were getting ready to go out. We were only able to have fresh towels.
There are no rooms in this hotel with a walk-in shower, which I find very poor in the 21st century. Baths had showers over them, but the baths were very high. The Jacuzzi bath had a hand held shower but again it was difficult to use. The hotel does not seem to cater for people who for whatever reason prefer a shower to a bath with a shower over.
The breakfast was poor.
We reported all of this to Reception on the day we left, and we have to say that both the Manager and the Reception staff were excellent, but the housekeeping in this hotel lets it down. The Manager in particular went out of his way to help, unfortunately he is limited to what he can do. The NH Hotel Group Directors need to be more hands on. Also the Hotel does need bringing up to date. It does not have the quality of facilities we judge a 4* hotel by.
This hotel was awful. The WiFi didn’t work. The phone in my room didn’t work and having had my handbag stolen I needed to contact my bank to stop my cards urgently. My own mobile was in my bag. They took ages to send an engineer to the room. I had to ring reception three times and was in a hurry as hoped to travel back to Uk that day. When the engineer failed to fix my phone, the very snotty receptionist, the only British one and you would think being female would have had some compassion, insisted I go and look for a phone outside the hotel knowing this was urgent and I had already waited nearly three hours for an engineer. I had no way of getting cash to even get a taxi or train and my car was in Menton some 40km away. I needed to get back there and take it to the airport and was trying to get help from my bank and my father. I was paying 300 euros a night for a room with a phone!! Yet I had to go out rather than use theirs! The nice friendly receptionist the previous day had let me use the phone to call my father when mine did not work. Quite frankly it should have worked as I wasn’t thrilled at having to make private calls in public myself. Sally said I couldn’t use the phone as they had too many check ins but after an initial blur of check ins there was no one at the desk at all and both of their phones with numerous lines on were free! As it was I missed my flight through being held up and next night moved to the Novotel next door where the phone and WiFi both worked, the food was better, the room was better and it was half the price. Buyer beware!! This hotel had the worst customer service and attitude I’ve experienced anywhere and I’ve travelled all over. As for Sally, she needs some training in both dealing with people and common courtesy. Never again.
Staff was super friendly and prepared, spacious room&bathroom, comfy double bed.
Still, the room had quite an old feel to it and the finishes are less than ideal for NH standards. The third bed in the room was maybe not the most enjoyable.
Would thoroughly recommend this hotel it is clean and tidy. It is in a great location for 10 minute walking to the bars and restaurants in Garibaldi square or catch a tram to the old town with a single journey faire just 1.50 euros. The staff were excellent with many of them speaking perfect English. Buffet style breakfast was very good liked being able to pick omelette ingredients hand it to waiter and within a short time on the table for me. Roof top terrace with bar and swimming pool.
