How to Get There
This rather unassuming hotel truly is a hidden gem on the beautiful French Riviera. Rooms are simple yet well appointed with their true selling point being the spectacular views out to sea from the balconies and terraces. We were in room 505 and I cannot stress enough how waking up here takes your breath away.
Not only this, the location is fantastic just a 5 minute walk to the port in one direction and 5 minutes to the Old Town in the other. This means you have plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. I would recommend buying wine (perfect to enjoy on the terrace) from Les Grandes Caves Caprioglio, just around the corner in old town. The staff there really know their stuff and we had some great, affordable champagne and Provence Rose.
The staff are wonderful, I have no doubt they will make your stay extra special as ours was. Breakfast is delightful with fresh croissants, hot buffet and as much freshly squeezed orange juice as you like (which, if you had children, would love juicing themselves in the machine).
The swimming pool is heated and a sun trap for the whole afternoon, if you don’t fancy walking to the public beach - again within just a few steps. The pictures of the pool area really don’t do it justice. If you just want to escape and read a book in the sun there’s also a roof terrace on the 6th floor, again with amazing views of Nice and The Mediterranean.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and cannot wait to return myself. Thank you La Perouse for an unforgettable stay.
Very pleasant staff. Great generous bathrobes and house slippers that fit! The right sort of attention where you are not waiting around or being constantly pestered. Authentic Cote d'Azure atmosphere. We appreciated that it is not an annoymous airconditioned prison but a pretty and elegant with just the right ammount of wear. Room service was swift and easy.In the best location and a super terrace not overlooked. In the heart of it and yet quiet. Great view and large balcony. Thank goodness-really comfortable beds with good bed linen and good reading lights. Seems very thought through. A bit mean with the bathroom extras but good-no waste.Ordering a taxi was also easy and staff pleased to help. Often just nipped around the corner to the old town even with an old crusty like me with limited walking ability. Very clean too.Nothing negative to say-had a lovely time especially my daughter with the attractive swimming pool alternating with the seamless use of WIFI for studying. It became our thing to stand at the window by the lift to take in the picture perfect view along the whole of the front of Nice.
We’ve been home for 4 days and we can not stop thinking about our stay. The location, views, food, friendliness of the staff, everything was perfect. We were in room 502 with a large terrace, it was so beautiful, so peaceful, just perfect. We can’t wait to go back.
Hotel La Peruse is in a great location, across from the beach and close to the old town section of Nice.
The reception and bell staff were very welcoming and did their best to help us with directions, baggage, etc.
The problem is that we were part of a very large group staying at the hotel before boarding a cruise ship in Monaco.
The hotel is not set up for such large groups. We stayed on the 3rd floor and had to take two elevators to get to and from our room.
It took almost an hour to get our luggage on arrival for only 3 people and the day of departure we left the hotel an hour late since the entire group needed to get luggage down to the bus.
The bar was very small with only a few seats. 3 of us bought drinks and were not allowed to sit at a table since they were saved for people wanting dinner, so we had to go to the lobby to enjoy the drinks we purchased, not a very good thing.
The hotel is built at various levels on to the cliff on the promontory on the way to the port. Amenities, therefore, are cleverly situated on various floors. All the staff are welcoming and efficient. There is a definite lack of a comfortable seating area which would, I understand, would be less valuable at the height of the tourist season. The bar would be more valuable and attractive in the evening if it was not mainly serving the restaurant - those of us who wanted a drink felt that they were an incumbrance. Great situation, however, overrules any difficulties caused by the difficult structural position on the cliff side. Our room with balcony was a delight.
