How to Get There
We booked a superior room. There was NOTHING superior about it!! It was just wide enough to hold two single beds pushed together and 2 tiny bedside cabinets. The balcony was so small that you had to move one of the 2 little chairs about to open or shut the shutters.
I’ve seen some reviews here saying how wonderful the rooms were. We obviously drew the short straw!!
We had to check with reception that they really had this labelled as a superior room, and we told them it really could not fit into that category.
It looked as if they had converted a decent size bedroom into 2 smaller ones. Dreadful! I would hate to have seen their standard rooms!!
The bathroom was quite big but regulating hot water in the shower was a feat. It went from scalding to cold several times during one shower and we had to ask staff to replace shower gel when it ran out as they forgot twice!!
Apart from the room, the staff were very pleasant and the food was very good. The Patio dining area was sheltered by orange and lemon trees and was lovely. Hence 3 stars instead of 1.
We would go back for lunch or dinner but wouldn’t stay there again.
A bit of a maze getting around the Hotel as spread over side of cliff, but this added charm . Did not use all facilities but those that were utilised were excellent. Fantastic aroma on patio & pool area due to lemon trees and other plants
I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful hotel last May for a decadent ladies weekend. There were 12 of us in the group and we all had a superb time, and enjoyed every aspect of the hotel. Stunning views, genuine warm hospitality, beautiful food and perfect location.
I recently treated good friends to a stay here and they were absolutely thrilled with the hotel and I believe have plans to return again soon.
Kristin, the front office manager, is excellent and if you have any special requests, is very willing to help.
the hotel, has now become my hotel of choice, in Nice. I am lookin forward to staying with them again this September, but hope to join them earlier for an early summer treat.
If you are looking for the perfect French hotel, I really can’t recommend this one high enough.
La Perouse is at the Old Town end of the famous Promenade des Anglais and is built into the cliff overlooking the sea. The design is ingenious and quirky. The street door takes you into the lobby/reception area from where a small lift takes you up the equivalent of six floors. Then a walk along a corridor brings you to another lift which gives access to the bedrooms and the hotel proper. The main building sits on a lip or shelf in the cliff and as a result has amazing views and is peacefully away from the hustle and bustle of seafront Nice.
The staff are helpful and courteous, the rooms tastefully appointed and well equipped and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and the shower strong and hot.
We had room 201 which has a huge balcony overlooking the dining terrace and pool and great views of the bay and Nice.
Although we didn’t take dinner in the hotel the breakfasts are excellent with a full range of hot and cold selections.
Location is great, close to the flower market and its brasseries and restaurants which in turn gives easy access to the narrow, atmospheric, mazey streets of Old Nice.
We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
This is an extremely comfortable hotel, ideally sited for visiting the old town and the port. The room was very comfortable and service was excellent. The restaurant was extremely good but fell short of being great. I would like to have seen a fish option on the breakfast menu but, that apart, the breakfast buffet was varied and appetising.
