How to Get There
Myself and my husband stayed here for only 1 night for the start or our trip across the south of France. Couldn’t fault a thing! Great rooms, amazing location! Would definitely stay again next time we visit beautiful Nice!
This is a decent hotel. Stayed here during the TM Forum event in Nice. Good location, 5 or 6 minutes walk from Place Massena and the promenade. Very nice reception, bar and outside terrace area. Happy hour is super value and they have some really nice craft beers. The rooms themselves are small and relatively basic but perfectly functional. I requested an iron the night I arrived but there was none available, they had given them all out. A hotel should not run out of iron's for the guests. I ended up borrowing one from a colleague. A small investment in 10 more irons and ironing boards would be my recommendation, especially when you are catering to business travellers.
This was a boutique hotel a couple of blocks off the waterfront. It was a bit quieter than with the row of hotels that overlooked the Mediterranean.
The lobby was very nice and there was a bar with club seating next to reception. The rooms were small but very nice and the bathroom had nice towels and amenities.
There were many restaurants nearby and it was easy to walk in the area.
The staff was very nice and helpful and spoke some English.
The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is well placed, a short walk from the centre and the sea front and the old town. The staff were also very good and helpful. We booked through British Airways. We checked in early and they were kind enough to allow us into the room early and were shown to room 403, we unpacked, but we thought the room was a bit poor and not representative of what we had seen on their website (It also lacked useable electric sockets). We went to Reception and complained and after a little delay they showed us another room (603), which was much better, so we moved everything and were happier there, although the room wasn’t big, but we come to expect smaller rooms with city centre hotels. Some of the communal areas, stairwells etc could do with refurbishment, or just a lick of paint. The bar area was good and the bar staff were very good. The reception staff were also good at making recommendations for restaurants for dinner (La Maison de Marie). The breakfast was a buffet type and adequate. It was very busy, even when we try to get there earlier, but again the staff are good at clearing and keeping things moving and tidy. We always used the stairs going down from the room, but the lift going up - if you don’t mind waiting. We were there for 4 nights and there was a large group of Americans there too!
We stayed at the Hotel Ellington for 10 days in early May, first with a group of 70+ people and then extended our stay for 4 days with 2 other friends. The staff handled the large group very well and I would highly recommend it for businesses looking for a place for seminars, etc. Barbara (Staff Mgr) at the desk was a joy, as was her intern Yuxin and everyone else. Sonia in the lovely breakfast room made each morning a happy beginning to our day and Julien and Adrian at the bar were fantastic in the evenings. There is a laundromat right around the corner next to Le Bistrot de Gillou where we had some of the most amazing food of our entire trip. Our rooms were not huge but had lovely views and very comfortable beds. The only drawback we found was that the rod in the closets is hung front-to-back instead of side-to-side so getting clothing out was challenging. Highly recommend this wonderful place and the beautiful city of Nice!
