Anchored on the sunny shores of the French Riviera, in the postcard-worthy city of Nice, Hotel Aston La Scala is a sublime spot for soaking up the best of the Mediterranean. Right in the heart of the action, this contemporary-styled bolthole is moments away from Place Massena, the Old Town and the ombre bright blue ocean.
Back at your hotel, take advantage of the breathtaking sights from the sophisticated comforts of Le 7 Blue Bar – high in the sky, this rooftop terrace is the tallest in all of central Nice – and let the soothing sounds of jazz, blues and soul wash all over you. The view from your guestroom is also impressive and is right in line with the Baroque style buildings of Old Town across the promenade, and there’s also the Miroir d’eau, the world’s largest reflecting pool just outside your window.
How to Get There
This was my second visit to Hotel Aston and I am equally pleased with the experience. We spent the evening at the rooftop Moon Bar which was complete with great food, wine and entertainment. The staff is welcoming and pleasant and the atmosphere is wonderfully cosy.
Booked a standard double room (confort) with a view towards the back of the hotel, and was happy to realize when we arrived that they had upgraded us to a room on the front, 4th floor, with a great view towards the park and the old town. I don't know why we got upgraded, but I suspect that it was because we booked our room directly from the hotel and not through some third party booking engines. Breakfast was included, and was nice. The included breakfast was served on the 1st floor, if you want to have your breakfast at the rooftop of the hotel, you have to pay €18 p.p. extra per day. Excellent service at the reception, everyone spoke very well English. Nice (but very small) sun deck on the roof top, including a miniature swimmingpool. Very nice roof top bar in the evening.
Entrance is a bit dated & not well looked after, hotel has a smell about it damp or old, staff at the front desk seem a little fed up, the lifts were in and out of order for the four days we was there, the rooms are modern, separate toilet was good, the bedding was ok, climbing in and out of the bath is a chore & pretty dangerous the bath is so high up and with no hand rail to get in and out with - an elderly person like my father struggled !
You can see the difference between a paid fir breakfast and one that’s included - the choices were cheap but adequate
On the first day we arrived to the hotel about 5pm or thereabouts we wandered about the hotel to find our way around, you go to the 7th floor to walk up to the eighth which is were the pool is but it’s so easy to go through the wrong door which is the staff way up to the pool, as it’s not very well sign posted ! & the staff couldn’t wait to tell us not to come that way again -
The pool bar is ok, the pool itself was ok but it’s not very clean in fact the scum marks can be clearly seen all around the paintwork of the pool & the patches from the day before & dirty tiles were still dirty the day we left !
Like I said it’s just ok,
The staff that represent the hotel are not that friendly & it could be cleaner
I doubt it should be sold to anyone as a 4 Star
Location was pretty good & near to the old town, better hotels for the same money
We arrived in Nice, after a fairly long train ride from Paris. It was late in the afternoon. The staff was very friendly & knowledgeable. Our room was fantastic, bright ,clean and the view was fantastic. There was a cold bottle of wine waiting for us along with strawberries & chocolate. The breakfast food was out of this world: cheese, smoked salmon, eggs any way you wanted them, choice of coffe: espresso, cappuccino, americano and so on. The roof top had a beautiful pool, bar & dining area with a great view the prices were not bad, except that you paid 8 euros for a glass of wine or a soft drink. We were there for 5 nights & 3 of them had entertainment in the evening. The restaurant was very good. Both my husband & my self hope to return in the next couple of years.
The location is superb! Close to the old town which loads of good restaurant located. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The room is very comfortable and big, overseeing the park which is very nice!
