A lovely hotel on the picturesque French Riviera, just a 10-minute stroll from the beach and Nice's Old Town

The Lowdown

Anchored on the sunny shores of the French Riviera, in the postcard-worthy city of Nice, Hotel Aston La Scala is a sublime spot for soaking up the best of the Mediterranean. Right in the heart of the action, this contemporary-styled bolthole is moments away from Place Massena, the Old Town and the ombre bright blue ocean.
Back at your hotel, take advantage of the breathtaking sights from the sophisticated comforts of Le 7 Blue Bar – high in the sky, this rooftop terrace is the tallest in all of central Nice – and let the soothing sounds of jazz, blues and soul wash all over you. The view from your guestroom is also impressive and is right in line with the Baroque style buildings of Old Town across the promenade, and there’s also the Miroir d’eau, the world’s largest reflecting pool just outside your window.

Excellent hotel. Stayed for a week. Location excellent and very near to the old town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room very clean. Within walking distance of rail station or by tram if want to travel to other places. Would definitely stay again.

Great location, lovely staff, but a little dated and noisey

Stayed two nights for a full day business meeting. Hotel has a great location and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was great too. My room was on the second floor, overlooking the restaurant at the front of the hotel. You can hear the traffic all the time and the restaurant terrace diners all evening, until fairly late when the restaurant closes. As the floors are tiled, you can hear chairs scraping in the other rooms. too. The meeting room was a good size, but very tired and no natural daylight. The projector was so old, we could not connect an HDMI cable, so only two laptops could be used. I know it was an outside issue, but the day of our meeting , there were wifi issues and we had to use costly hot spots to present our slides to those dialing in. However as I said, the staff are lovely and can't do enough for you! I would stay again, but not for business.

Lovely hotel in the best position for the old town.

Great hotel in an excellent position.
Last year we stayed on the Prom De Anglais which we thought was a good position - but this is better for the restaurants and sites of the old town.
Staff were lovely and very helpful and the hotel had a really good feel about it.
Great views from the roof !
Would definitely go back

Amazing location and great staff

Rooms are a bit dated and could use a renovation. Breakfasts are about as good as anywhere we've ever been. Hotel is central to everything in Nice and all Viatours pick up at this hotel. One slight criticism is that there are almost no English speaking TV stations and, from what we could see, the vast majority of their guests are English-speaking.

Excellent, and improved business hotel wiht a convenient central location

I have been going to Nice for business every year for two decades, and have spent many of those trips at the Aston. First, it has steadily improved over the years, renovated and with vastly improved service (it was once rather surly). The location strikes a great balance between business venues, often up at the Acropolis and social/evening venues (often toward the water). Situated across the greenway from old town and a tram stop, and a block+ form Place Massina, you can't beta the location. Rooms are snug but not tiny, and finally they have installed a gym (yea!). Very comfortable.
