Overview

A lovely hotel on the picturesque French Riviera, just a 10-minute stroll from the beach and Nice's Old Town

The Lowdown

Anchored on the sunny shores of the French Riviera, in the postcard-worthy city of Nice, Hotel Aston La Scala is a sublime spot for soaking up the best of the Mediterranean. Right in the heart of the action, this contemporary-styled bolthole is moments away from Place Massena, the Old Town and the ombre bright blue ocean.
Back at your hotel, take advantage of the breathtaking sights from the sophisticated comforts of Le 7 Blue Bar – high in the sky, this rooftop terrace is the tallest in all of central Nice – and let the soothing sounds of jazz, blues and soul wash all over you. The view from your guestroom is also impressive and is right in line with the Baroque style buildings of Old Town across the promenade, and there’s also the Miroir d’eau, the world’s largest reflecting pool just outside your window.

LOVELY HOTEL!
Reviewed 6 days ago

Stayed for 3 nights in Nice just after Christmas. Hotel staff friendly and room was a good size! Had to ask for a fluffier pillow as the ones were a bit too flat for my liking, housekeeping had them ready for me by the time I got up to my room! A little hot at night but we just opened the window a little and it was fine! Rooms were very clean and the hotel supplied Body Lotion was fantastic! Great area within walking distance to everything. Sunsets were amazing on the Roof Top Bar. Breakfast was ok with a good variety of everything.

Stunning views from dirty windows

First of all, don't expect warm atmosphere and a friendly staff. This hotel is not about it - it is big, indifferent, and ... bit dirty. Rooms are OK, they are clean and comfy, but the common areas like breakfast lunge and lobby looks abandoned & dirty: dirty old carpets, dirty windows. They have great views from their breakfast room, but why they do not clean windows? So, it looks like the hotel is in the depression, management in their absence and the hotel stuff just don't care. Strange sunbeds reservation procedure. We were staying in July, 10:00 a.m. asked for sunbeds reservation in their private beach (there are stickers all around that they have "special rates") - "It's all booked" was the answer. OK. We went to this beach, just to check - no problem, plenty of free sunbeds. The next day the same story repeated. "No free places" at the reception and "you are welcome" at the beach. I don't understand what was the reason to provide such a misleading information? A rooftop terrace is quite nice, but the swimming pool is sooo small... Don't believe the picture on their site, the pool is for 2 adults maximum.

Awesome location. Near the beautiful park fountain. Rooftop views and bar. Friendly concierge.
Car park however is a paid park in a 5 minute walk public car park. We had 3 adults accomodation. It was quiet a large room. Very impressed. Ps floors in this room was tiles so take slippers if going in winter.

Run, don't walk, away from this disaster.

The "upgraded" room we were given for our honeymoon was so noisy we couldn't sleep...with earplugs. The main road has a lot of traffic, loud music, and people screaming until late hours. The staff refused to enforce any type of noise ordinance rules or make even the slightest attempt to quiet the overtly loud people in the street. When we requested a room change, we were questioned as to why we didn't say something during our first night's stay. Well, after 24 hours of traveling, one is not likely to make a fuss over any place to sleep. Also, tonight is Friday night and there is quite a bit more noise than the Thursday on which we arrived. We were downgraded to a tiny room on the other side of the hotel. At first, we were told that we could only have a room with 2 twin beds. Magically, after speaking with the desk face-to-face, a room with a queen bed opened up. I refuse to believe nothing could be done about this and am dreadfully disappointed in the manner in which it was handled. We were given mere minutes to pack up everything from our room and move to another, much smaller but thankfully quiet, room. Highly disappointed in the attitude and accusatory tone of the gentleman working at the desk.

It’s a no go

No need to stop by this place, even as well located as it can be : rooms are too small and rather dirty; breakfast is a parody, dull and tasteless; room service delivers plates that are sad and too expensive for what they are.I won’t return for sure.
