How to Get There
Great hotel, super people & service, underrated roof deck and ideal location. The two of us spent the first four nights of June here and loved being int he hotel when we there, and where it was located as we explored all of Nice (and Monaco, and Eze). It's location was perfect for us: quite enough and a few blocks away from the busy stuff, but just those few short blocks to be in the thick of it, at the waterfront, or on your way to Old Nice (our favorite neighborhood if you look of school alley shopping & cafes, great food of all kinds, and super positive vibe).
Roofdeck is way underrated and a must take if at the hotel. We went twice at late sunset/early evening and had dinner one night and drinks/apps the second. Both were delicious (not inexpensive) bu you are paying for the experiencer as well. We sat by the chef's are and watched the team prep and cook the orders - great to watch them in action and we got several samples on the house - yum!
The street the hotel is on is currently under construction, but we actually found it to be be a good thing. There was no through traffic as the road was mostly closed, and we never heard any construction (if they even did it). So it all had a quiet, low key feel.
We dug it.
I'm quite surprised by the mixed reviews of the hotel. We had a fantastic 3 night stay.
My partner and I took our mothers on a trip to France. We discussed our options and chose to get 3 rooms for the four of us - as opposed to only 2 rooms.
My only complaint of the hotel was that it was good we did - the hotel showers are glass and in the open room. Fine if you are a couple or single person - but if you are sharing a room with your family it would be quite awkward.
Since that wasn't the case with us - we were fine. The rooms were spacious, showers were amazing and they had plenty of storage space. We were incredibly pleased.
If you get the chance, enjoy the rooftop. They don't promote it enough online - but it had a great rooftop bar & pool you can enjoy. If we had known in advance we would have schedule a few hours to relax in the sun.
Our time is Nice was much better because of a great hotel selection.
Overall this was a decent place to stay. I'm not sure I would have spent my money/points here again though if I had the chance to do it again. I'll break my review up into parts to better communicate why:
-Location- it was about 20 mins (by car) to the airport and 10 min walk to the train station. There was a decent amount of food nearby. The shopping plaza was right around the corner if you need anything or just want to walk around. Old Town, Castle Hill the beach and the boardwalk area can all be accessed by foot. I would have much rather preferred to stay closer to the water, even though it wasn't a far walk. Most of the restaurants, bars and even Old Town would have been closer to there
-Staff- Almost all of the people were nice. From the doorman, to the people at the front desk, the cleaning staff and especially the lovely group of Italian folks who were great to converse with. (check out the rooftop even if you aren't staying to eat or drink. Drinks are expensive at about 20 Euros for a cocktail). However, there was this one lady that worked the morning shift that we didn't care for. She wasn't friendly from the moment she checked us in. Our bags had not traveled with us and the airlines had said they would be there the first night or the morning after the latest. Any time I would stop by the desk o ask if our bags were here (usually on our way in to the hotel), we were met with her sour attitude. Because our bags didn't arrived when planned, there was a gentlemen who was willing to make a call for us since the courier service spoke French. The lady said something in French and then he changed his mind. She wasn't like this one day, but all of them. We would avoid asking any questions, bag related or not to the front desk until her shift changed. I honestly think she was the reason I couldn't give this place 5 stars.
-Rooms- They were clean, as was the bathroom. No issues with housekeeping at all. Its big and it almost feels empty and large for no reason. I know it's the modern look, but I wasn't the biggest fan. The shower had good pressure, but something in the way it was set up (or the way we were using it) created a mess right outside. We ended up laying our towels down after our shower (not eco at all and the housekeeping probably thought we were a mess).
Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. If I find myself in Nice again, I would probably stay elsewhere before I came back here.
The hotel does not have a good view. The published photos of the room we had chosen did not match with the one we were given ( Exclusive room) . The photo in their website shows a balcony with two chairs and a table. The room we were given had nothing like that and the balcony was so small that even a chair would not fit in.
Stayed with my 18 year old daughter for 4 nights. Perfect girls trip hotel with spa, gym and rooftop pool and Bar/restaurant. Good breakfast.
There was major construction work taking place just outside the hotel. For our surprise, noise didnt bother us too much in the morning, even though our balcony was facing the front and room was on the 1st floor.
Comfy beds, room was spotless and Great size(Room 109) Nicer than in the pictures on web site.
Hotel is in an old beautiful building and location is perfect. Beautiful street (except now when they are doing the construction work until summer 2019) very close to the shopping street and old town. Beach is only 10 mins walk away.
Rooftop pool area was our favourite part of the hotel. Disappointed for the 20€ charge for the sunbed for half a day. Staff was kind not to charge us on one day when it started raining quite soon after we arrived.
Roof top bar really nice in the evening. Expensive but worth it. Staff there very nice and welcoming.
Didnt eat at the hotel restaurants but lots of lovely restaurants walking distance in old town. Also great cafe Paul just around the corner for salads and baquettes for quick lunch.
Will definately stay here again next time in Nice.
