Nestled in the Bay of Garavan on the Côte d’Azur, Hotel Napoleon offers a chic four-star stay on France’s south coast. You can kick off your days here grazing over the bountiful buffet breakfast in The Biennial Lounge, before lazing on a lounger by the solar-heated swimming pool.
The hotel’s tranquil garden has been designed by Arnaud Maurières and Eric Ossart, in homage to the ground-breaking Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, and offers a calming space in which to unwind. You’ll also find a gym on-site, which overlooks the pool.
Each of Hotel Napoleon’s 44 guest rooms and suites come complete with air conditioning, a flatscreen TV, complimentary minibar and Internet access, with either a calming garden or mountain vista, or views over the sea. Décor is playful and modern, with bright blue feature walls and characterful artwork.
How to Get There
An elegant, comfortable, unpretentious boutique hotel
Rooms of good size - bathrooms a bit small
Small pool (we did not use)
Very good location (on the beach, 5 mins walk to center, 15 mins walk to Mirazur)
A good address
Friendly staff make you feel at home and its location is perfect for swimming and strolling beside the sea. My wife and I wanted to taste local wine. Staff offered cork screw and glasses without usual ease and friendliness.
We spent 4 nights here in September. I read the reviews, which were really positive.
We reserved a room facing the side/back of the hotel, because I had read on Tripadvisor that the Seaview rooms were noisy. Very glad we did that. The traffic noise here is unrelenting, especially when you are sitting at the pool.
The pool area is pretty, but the pool isn't heated. The water is very cold.
The food here was okay, but nothing special. There is a lobby bar. I tried two different cocktails, a Bloody Mary and a Pina Colada and neither was good.
The garden in the back was lovely, although there was construction next door. That, along with a woman shouting into her phone created a terrible ambience.
The staff here is very helpful and made restaurant reservations for us. We loved their choices, and Menton is absolutely beautiful.
We would certainly return to this charming town, but would not necessarily return to the Hotel Napoleon.
