Once a peaceful fishing village, Saint-Tropez has reinvented itself as a jetsetter’s mecca, attracting luxury yachts and the glitterati, who come for its dazzling waters and renowned beaches. Since bombshell Brigitte Bardot brought it to the fore when filming her 1956 film And God Created Woman, this formerly sleepy spot has never looked back. Yet, despite its high-flying associations, the captivating destination does retain a bit of calm.
Hôtel Font Mourier is located just three miles from Saint-Tropez, with its own slice of serenity among the pine-covered landscapes of France’s southern coast. You’ll find an outdoor swimming pool complete with a poolside bar, as well as a delectable restaurant, from which you can enjoy regional dishes on the terrace, by the pool or in the garden. What’s more, you’re not far from French Riviera’s beaches at Ramatuelle and the lagoon city of Port-Grimaud.
The hotel’s rooms feature a calming, neutral color scheme to create an uncluttered and fuss-free space, designed for uninterrupted relaxation. Deluxe rooms are 355 square feet, with a king bed.
A buffet breakfast is served daily, overlooking the surrounding pine forests, with a sumptuous selection of hot and cold dishes, drinks and fresh produce from local suppliers. The restaurant is open from midday and offers mixed salads, tartares and planchas, which can be enjoyed on the terrace, by the pool or in the garden. There’s also a poolside snack bar, where you can pick up a fresh fruit plate or indulge with an ice cream, and a bar provides the perfect spot for a sunset cocktail by the swimming pool.
The hotel occupies a beautiful location, overlooking the Gulf of Saint-Tropez on the southern coastline of France. It’s just over four miles from the beaches of Ramatuelle, set in the area’s hilly, pine-clad landscape, ensuring a peaceful environment for a slice of rural tranquility, while remaining conveniently close to the coast. Saint-Tropez itself is three miles away, while the lagoon city of Port-Grimaud is less than two miles from the hotel.
How to Get There
Just returned from a lovely stay at Hotel Font Mourier. The property is gorgeous with a beautiful pool and grounds. My room had a King Size bed (so hard to find in Europe!) and a Twin/Day Bed. It was very spacious and the bathroom had updated appliances, robes and all the amenities you may need. As for the food... I have Celiac Disease which means I can only eat gluten free foods but Hotel Font Mourier made it easy since the breakfast set up had plenty of GF options including eggs, fruit, meat, cheeses, etc. You can even take a trip to the Giant Casino aka the grocery store (which is very close by) and stock up on "Sans Gluten" bread/pastries/cookies - they had a huge selection! I also loved the indoor/outdoor restaurant seating at the hotel since we had gorgeous weather for eating outside. Will definitely be back to Hotel Font Mourier!
We stayed here for two nights. Quite expensive. No tea and coffee making facilities. We were upgraded which was very kind of the hotel. However we had asked for a balcony with a view and were given a room (beautiful room) with a deck which was surrounded by bushes - shame as the views would have been stunning. The reception staff were very welcoming. It had a very quiet atmosphere.
The staff are really friendly and very helpful, they make you feel at home. The hotel location is perfect and not far from the center if you have a car. The garden and pool area are so relaxing you could spend the whole night at them without feeling bored. It is a really nice hotel. The greenery around this hotel makes you feel so relaxed.
We booked a superior room and received a room which we didn’t know which type it was.... room itself was really expensive for what it was, old fashioned and nowhere to retrieve on the internet. I expect if you book a (upgraded) room, you do get the room you paid for. I understand that rooms can differ from an interior perspective... and non refurbished rooms need to be mentioned on the website and other booking agencies.
At the reception desk they kept us running in circles, told us lies about management being offsite till’ suddenly the manager was standing in front of us,...
Not in any way they were constructive and caring about the customer... I quote: “if you’re
not satisfied, just take your bags and leave”.
For me this is a place where you don’t need to spend your money... much better, customer caring, hotels in neighborhood.
We booked the suite (the only one) and it was pretty amazing room. Before the trip I couldn’t find many pictures of the room online so based on the size of the room we gambled. The room is very modern, with black out automatic shutters, the bathroom is pretty awesome, the patio is huge with the tub and plenty of couches and seating areas. It was so comfortable that we hardly went downstairs.
