Bandol is a holidaymakers delight; set on the Côte d’Azur in southern France, it’s an area fringed in pretty beaches and picturesque inlets. disappointing service at a pretty location

Unfortunately, despite the hotel itself being lovely and having a gorgeous view, we had quite a disappointing experience with regard to the service. We went to the pool in the afternoon to enjoy some time outside and when our order came the waiter accidentally spilled an entire glass of rose all over my chair/legs/sweater/purse. Of course he apologized and brought a new glass but then another waiter came over and offered to launder my sweater since it was covered in rose. I said sure and mentioned our room number. When the bill came we weren't comped anything which we didn't expect but it would have been nice. The next day we were checking out and asked the front desk about the sweater, she called the housekeeping team and went to the bar and it was nowhere to be found. We unfortunately had to be on our way to make it to our next stop in time so had to leave without any resolution. Additionally, when I had booked the hotel I had selected to include parking in the reservation but they charged us for parking there - I mentioned the payment and they said that I had just held a spot which didn't seem to make sense to me based on the amount that was charged on my card but as I said we were in a rush to leave so I didn't have a choice but to suck it up. Pretty unacceptable in my opinion, would not recommend this hotel.

Vacation where the French vacation. Absolutely beautiful setting over the sea. Our fifth floor room was perfect. Spacious balcony was perfect at sunset. Bountiful morning buffet. Had a terrific deep tissue massage in the Spa. The hotel is located extremely close to the harbor with a multitude of resturants. Fun Saturday market for browsing. Visit the Vins of Bandol shop. Very informative. Took a sunset sail with Pirat Croisieres which was beautiful. We had an exceptional dinner at L’Atelier du Gout. Loved our time in Bandol. A perfect place to relax and explore.

Could have been perfect

We used to visit Bandol 30-35 years ago. Plage de Renecros was a favourite spot. This hotel looks out over that beach, perfect view, nice rooms looking out over there too. So Hotel lovely and staff generally very friendly but it is the hotel policies that are not Food enough for a hotel of this quality and price.
No welcome drink on arrival
Loungers on the beach are €30 per day per person, so people stay up by the pool which is nice but cramped
Therefore the Hotel doesn’t look busy from the beach. Why would you go?
There is bar service but you have to go looking and asking for it. 1st waiter excellent. 2nd waiter brought another bottle of water but not clean glasses
Very nice restaurant with very good food but tuna not de-threaded properly
Car keys handed back to reception but three hours later the car was still sitting in the street. Reception had forgotten?
We wanted to love this place and feel loved in return but it was a bit uninspiring in many ways, which was a huge disappointment.
It could have been perfect with just all the little things that really show attention to detail

Not 5 star service at all

Arrived today to Ille Rousse and certainly not impressed so far with service or reception staff. Our flight got us in early so arrived at hotel before check in time of 3pm. We were asked if we spoke French and said a little bit. Check in proceeded in a high speed French dialogue with no regards to our limited ability. We asked whether we could pay to check in early and were laughably told definitely no. Lunch at the beach restaurant to waste time while we waited for our 2 rooms also proved to an affair where we were ignored when trying to reorder drinks or another bottle of water. Back to reception at 3pm to be told our rooms not ready but then 2 French families checked in and were accommodated immediately with cards for their awaiting rooms. We were asked to go sit in the bar to have a drink (on us) while we waited some more. At this point I finally expressed in English I was really not happy. Been traveling from Canada for 1.5 day to get here and needed to sleep. Miraculously they appeared with one room key for one of our travel party. I asked how long for the other double room and was told they don’t know as calling housekeeping and they not answering. So currently all 3 of our party in one single room not able to properly unpack or sleep off the long journey. Also room cluttered with baby crib, bath tub and potty which we had to request be removed as no room to move around. Still waiting... let’s hope the next 5 days service improves. Certainly not the 5 star service I am used to as an experienced world traveler 🙃

Expensive but best stituation

We first stayed in the hotel around 30 years ago and have seen its transformation over the years. It is now very flash and even more expensive but... worth it. We had room 406 which has a wonderful view of the beach. The room is not terribly practical in some areas - the taps in the sink and bath are not well situated.
We dined in one night and the service and meal were very good but it niggled that as a hotel guest we had to reserve to go to the restaurant.

The hotel has parking and I would recommend reserving this as particularly at weekends Bandol can be very busy. Cost for accommodation GBP1,200 for 3 nights. Extras including one dinner and lunch for two GBP327
