Just a few miles from the coast, sandwiched between Nice and Cannes, the rustic French town of Vence in the South of France spills down the hillside into miles of sleepy countryside. Hotel Cantemerle sits close to the centre, its grounds an oasis of smooth green lawns, blooming flowers and shady Mediterranean trees.
Spend your days sipping champagne by the outdoor pool as you bask on a white sun lounger. Graze at the gourmet French restaurant, where you can sit out on the garden terrace look out over the water. To top this all off, there’s also a spa with an indoor pool, gym, solarium and authentic Turkish hammam – could there be anywhere more idyllic on the sought-after Côte d’Azur? Unsurprisingly, this property has earned itself a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
How to Get There
Stayed just for one night on our way to Italy. Amazing breakfast - staff so so attentive - left us some cake as we were arriving late and the restraunt was closed! Lovely lovely place! The swimming pool and the views were breathtaking!
My wife & I enjoyed a great stay here. Location is very good, 10 mins walk into the lovely town of Vence & 10 mins drive into St Paul de Vence and only 30 mins dive to Nice.
Rooms are very well appointed, clean & comfortable. There’s plenty of sun beds & day beds dotted around the garden to relax and enjoy the sun. WiFi is excellent, strong enough to stream from Netflix.
The staff were excellent and very helpful, recommending take away deliveries when the restaurant was shut & providing us with cutlery & crockery when delivered.
Restaurant was fantastic (separate review).
Only reason for not awarding 5 stars is because of the prices of extras... a cup of coffee was 7 euros!! Small bottles of water in the mini bar 4 euros. 10 euros for a cognac.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.
I stayed at the hotel for two nights in October. The hotel is lovely - the rooms are large and very clean. The bed is extremely comfortable. The reception isn’t open 24 hours, and when I returned late, I needed to find an alternative path back to my room in the dark. There is no elevator and there are lots of stairs - if you are disabled, request a room close to the reception. When I checked out, I received an unauthorised charge on my card. When I questioned this, I was told it was because I took things from the mini bar. This was not true. After a few emails back and forth, I was refunded but did not appreciate being accused of lying by the staff and this really soured the experience. Otherwise, this is a lovely hotel.
Excellent room, and food. Best place we stayed during our trip. Location is great, staff that we dealed with was very nice and helpfull and willing to help.Anna a Franco German lady at the reception was very nice and not afraid to help out
Beautiful location with beautiful grounds. The duplex room was nice and clean although a little close to the restaurant in the evenings. Breakfast was nice with a small amount of cooked food (scrambled eggs, sausages and pancakes) although this needed to be topped up more regularly. The continental side of the breakfast was well stocked and more than adequate. Staff were efficient and the meal we had at the restaurant although pricey, was amazing! My one major issue was the price of drinks; a cup of tea was €6 and a coffee €8! I don’t might paying more for alcohol at hotels as that’s inevitable but the price for soft drinks was simply extortionate!
