Oceanfront beach pad with a French bistro, fifth-floor outdoor pool and splurge-worthy spa
The Atlantic Hotel & Spa stands with quiet and elegant appeal on Route A1A, Fort Lauderdale’s seaside main drag, directly across from one of the best sections of the town’s 20-plus miles of beach. Inside, the deep chocolate lobby walls, accented with spot lighting, open up to a curved, shiny wooden bar, where you can sit on ottomans and gaze at the ocean through enormous floor-to-ceiling windows. The bar adjoins Beauty and the Feast, a delightful French bistro overseen by executive chef Steve Zobel that has elevated the dining scene on this strip. The spacious guestrooms (starting at 620 square feet) are designed in a modern beach style, in a smooth gray palette with wood furnishings and ocean views from private balconies. The marble bathrooms have both shower stalls and freestanding tubs, and the living area thoughtfully includes a kitchenette fully equipped with a microwave oven, a two-burner stovetop, a refrigerator and cookware. Despite the proximity of the ocean, most guests choose to hang out by the fifth-floor heated swimming pool. And just off the pool deck is the 10,000-square-foot spa, one of the best in the area, which offers a clever treatment menu that draws on different cultures and makes use of herbs, spices and oils from a variety of regions.
