How to Get There
Met some long time friends for a wonderful reunion and we all loved Casa Grandview. A quiet and lovely oasis. Cheryl and Kirk are wonderful hosts and their staff are most helpful and accommodating. The place is beautiful. Quiet and in perfect location to explore the area. Rooms are beautiful and cozy. The breakfast absolutely delicious. I will return!!
My husband and I were planning a last solo vacation before our first child arrives in June, and we wanted to do something that centered on Washington Nationals spring training, which is located in West Palm Beach. By chance, we came across the name of Casa Grandview on a blog written by another couple who'd "babymooned" in West Palm last year -- and their glowing recommendation inspired us to make a reservation. They could not have steered us in a better direction!
The room: We spent six nights in Casa Grandview's Sundance North suite, which was perfect for our needs -- we wanted a little bit of space to spread out (i.e., to watch TV without laying on the bed) and a small fridge and microwave to cool beverages and heat leftovers as needed. The suite, which is just steps from the property pool and across from the B&B's main building, checked all those boxes. I also LOVED the combination rain and regular shower in the bathroom -- it was the perfect respite after a day in the sun at the beach, by the pool, or at the ballpark.
The food: The "breakfast" part of the B&B was phenomenal, both for the menu and the personable service provided led by Kirk, Laine (may have misspelled her name!) and Patty. Kirk (just like Cheryl, whom we met at check-in) was a font of good local recommendations and great conversation. And the food - three courses each morning - was delicious; I miss the pastries terribly. We had to depart very early on our last day - well before everyone would be awake - but Cheryl made sure we wouldn't have to leave for the airport hungry. She arranged for some grab-and-go breakfast to be left in our beverage chiller the day before -- so thoughtful!
The location: If you're looking for something very close to the main shopping/dining areas of West Palm Beach, Casa Grandview is a bit too far to be walkable. But we really liked the neighborhood feel and the privacy Casa Grandview afforded and didn't mind making short drives to City Place, Clematis Street, and Worth Avenue. We took advantage of a few things within walking distance: the Norton Museum of Art, the Grandview Public Market, and Thai Bay restaurant -- so there are things close by to visit. It's also a short drive to PBI Airport, about 10-15 minutes away.
In short: We adored Casa Grandview and highly recommend it if you're looking for a comfortable and convenient getaway to West Palm Beach! Thank you, Cheryl and Kirk, for a fabulous week.
I stayed at the Savannah apartment when my flight back to Minneapolis was canceled due to the snow storm. If you can’t do the stairs, don’t rent this place. Otherwise, the bed and the pillows were comfortable. The hosts were very hospitable. She asked if I drank coffee and then she brought me ground coffee for the morning. There were complimentary treats, bottled water, and soda. The toiletries, sheets were high end and the towels were great! They really took details into consideration. My friend, who was staying at another place, decided to join me after I sent her pictures of this place. She only had to pay extra $35 plus tax to join me, which was worth it. We ate dinner at a nearby restaurant, Table 26, which was perfect walking distance. The hosts provided me with a map and gave some recommendations on where to go. I even had an awesome driver, Joe, who came highly recommended by the hosts, drive me back to the airport since my flight was early in the morning. The only regret I had was not staying longer. I stayed at the Marriott nearby the first night before boarding the ship to the Bahamas, and this is comparable in quality. I had a restful night before catching my flight.
My wife and I spent a lovely couple of days at this very special property. Our room was gorgeous and each detail was carefully and very tastefully selected. The bed was extremely comfortable; the breakfasts were great; our hosts (Cheryl and Kirk ) are very lovely folks who truly enjoy hosting their guests. We are very happy that we discovered this treasure and look forward to a return visit.
For a short stay in West Palm, we had selected this lovely Bed and Breakfast based on previous reviews - and we were certainly not disappointed! It is located within walking distance of City Place, and we found the area very safe for us to travel through. The B & B is a series of rooms, suites, and cottages that seem to intertwine with each other, opening to a lovely center space that has an alley running through it. It is quite a lush area with flowers, palm trees, fountains and landscape lighting. The main house holds the reception area for check in - but this is much, much more than a B & B. This is also Cheryl and Kirk Grantham's home which they lovingly have opened up to us. We had reserved a room within the main house, but upon check in, Yajaira upgraded us to a cottage! We were able to experience what I call "Old Florida" - a small bungelow with a king bed, living room, dining room and fully stocked kitchen. An added bonus was the private patio in the back that opened to a small salt water pool. Yajaira let us look at both areas before deciding which location we preferred. For the extra room, and privacy, we stayed in the cottage. The refrigerator was stocked with a selection of soft drinks and water. Half and Half was in the fridge for coffee. A basket with a few snacks and chocolates were on the counter. It was great to bring leftovers back from the restaurants and warm them up in the microwave the next day for lunch! We had an ample supply of extra towels located in a dresser. The bathroom, although small, had all the amenities we could possibly need. Yahaira left us a note pad in the dining room and told us if we needed anything to write it on the pad and she would take care of it when she freshened up our rooms. We were given an area map with locations of interest marked. Cheryl had sent me a list of restaurants prior to our arrival so that I could check the menus.
One of our favorite parts of the day was heading over to the main house for breakfast. They serve a marvelous breakfast that starts out with a fresh pastry from the Tulipan bakery, followed with fresh fruit (served out of Kirk's mother's crystal goblets), and then a made-to-order entree. And please note that if Cheryl doesn't think you are eating enough - she will send Kirk out to check with you regarding your order! The food is prepared beautifully, and Kirk is the main man to bring your food out to you. We met Francisco as well, who is another part of the Casa Grandview team. He always had a smile on his face and was ready to help. But it wasn't just the food and the lodging that made this place special. We loved talking with Cheryl and Kirk and finding out about the history of the B & B. This is truly a work of their heart, and it is obvious that they care deeply about the property, the guests, and West Palm in general. It was apparent that this wasn't just "a business", this was an extension of them: welcoming, organized, and gracious. We left Casa Grandview not feeling like we had stayed at a B & B, but that we had stayed with some friends - and we know that we will be thinking of them from time to time up here in Indiana and hoping that they are continuing to enjoy life! I know without a doubt that when a time comes to return to the area, Casa Grandview will be the place that we will want to stay. Thanks to all for sharing a piece of your world with us!
