How to Get There
Came over from an adjacent hotel for lunch here and was pleasantly surprised. The view was nice, the service was great and fast and the food was delicious. We had the fish tacos and they didn’t disappoint. Great fast lunch time place to eat!
Right off the bar, outside, is a nice little beach area. We were not staying at the hotel, but spend sometime at the bar. We liked the complimentary bites, but the drinks were awfully expensive. I have to say that they were quite generous, but still.
One night here . The place isn't the easiest to find with the GPS. The network od roads in the area is a real maze as it is close to the airport and on the causeway to St. Pete. But once you find it it is a nice property . Had a high floor room with a view of the bay and causeway. Room was quiet. Valet and bell service was good. Check in was ok, had a new employee on the desk, but he did fine, just had to feel his way. All in all a good stay
So, I was freezing and wanted to escape the Superbowl traffic in ATL, so my friend and I hopped down to Tampa for 24 hours and this was a good place to stay. I am a devoted 20+ year SPG veteran. I have to say that it's not as special as the Westin Waterside in Tampa, but it is only 6 minutes from the airport and the property holds true to Westin brand standards.
Value for money: A bit high, but not too bad. We paid approximately $176 all-in. I might try the boutique-looking property across the street next time, as the rate seems comparable and the property seems more chic. I think $130 would have been a more reasonable rate. There is no need to valet, albeit I read that valet is only $5, which made me want to do it and be lazy, but again, its not necessary.
Cleanliness: Really great. Rooms and all areas are clean. The housekeeping staff was friendly. The front desk gave us late 3pm checkout without hesitation which signals to me that the housekeeping schedule accommodates late checkout, which is wonderful!
Other tips: There were two free bottles of water in the room. Toiletries are basic. All rooms seem to have great views. You can rent jet skis from a little hut on their tiny beach (but not sure about cost). The indoor pool is not heated but its ok; there's a jacuzzi. The restaurant/bar has a nice view. We didn't try the food at the restaurant other than dessert because... why try hotel food when you're not on per diem!
Kudos to a female bartender working on the night of Feb. 2 who handled a disruptive, very drunk male guest at the bar with kindness and professionalism! I wish he had tipped her properly.
Must do in Tampa: eat at Columbia's in Ybor City (about 7 minutes away) and go view the manatees at Tampa Electric's Manatee Viewing Center (about 30 minutes away) then have lunch at Circles on Apollo Beach which is down the road. Cheers!
I stayed here for work. Free shuttle from airport. Great views from guest room. Friendly driver, bellman, front desk staff.
Meeting space is higher up and has great views. There is a roof top venue for meetings that is great.
Tip - they are dog friendly and allow dogs in every room. Great if you have a dog. If you have dog allergies, you can ask front desk to look through their binder where they record dogs that know stayed; and go back a few months to see if your room has had a dog recently.
If you are attending a meeting & have food allergies, some of the staff are great and can answer questions. If they can’t, ask to speak to chef.
If you arrive after regular room service ends and need a vegan meal, ask the chef if you can order off regular room service menu. They go a great job with fresh veggies!
