Great Airport Hotel

I usually don’t like airport hotels because they generally see a lot of traffic and it usually shows. This time I was very pleased to stay at one! Even though they don’t call themselves an airport hotel the free shuttle and close proximity truly fit the criteria. What I loved the most was the great staff! Everyone was professional but the valet attendants and the hotel bartenders ( the ladies) were helpful and friendly! They made me feel very comfortable. The hotel has a Starbucks (that I did enjoy) a restaurant, a sandy little play area with SeaDo rentals, and a nice outdoor seating area to relax and enjoy good conversation or reading. It’s location made freeway access a breeze and there were lots of good food less than 10 minutes away in almost every direction. After reading the reviews I was expecting the decor to be quite outdated but that wasn’t the case. The bay view was great also offering an airport view. I moved my chair to sit in front of the window. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom offered a large separate shower and a tub. I would definitely stay again.

Most Disappointing Experience - Will Not Stay Again

We stayed at the Westin Tampa Bay on June 28, 2019 to extend our cruise vacation. When we checked in we were advised there was an issue with the hot water and were reassured it would be back on shortly. It wasn’t just the hot water. Our room had no water at all until after 10 pm! We had to be at the airport at 5 am so we gave up on showers and the long soak iI’d been looking forward to and went to bed as soon as we could at least brush our teeth. Then the party in the next room came in and carried on loudly until well after midnight, even after two calls to the front desk.

The only thing enjoyable about this stay was the bed itself, for the four hours we were able to sleep. When we checked out, the desk clerk asked how our stay was and we told him it was disappointing. He just said, “I’m sorry,” and dismissed us.

I contacted Marriott about the experience and received a reply with an apology. The representative advised that the information had been passed on to the hotel’s executive team and asked that I give them 3 to 5 days for someone to contact me. Nine business days later I’ve heard nothing from anyone else.

I will not stay at or recommend this hotel in the future. It doesn’t appear that the Tampa Bay executive team is concerned with customer experience.

Great for an airport hotel

This has to be one of the best airport hotels around. The hotel is only a 5 minute ride from the airport, so its very convenient. And while I did not have a lot of time to check out the area since I was there on business, it seems like there are some decent food choices close by, there was a seafood place less than a mile away that was pretty good. The view from my room was of the water, and I could see a bit of the beach. I didnt have time to hit up the beach or the indoor pool, but I did use the fitness center, it was decent sized with basic equipment. THere is a Starbucks in the lobby, so fairly convenient.
