How to Get There
Excellent hotel; within walking distance to Amalie Center; Amy was so personable at the front desk; gorgeous room; restaurant easily accessible with bar menu and full menu. Valet efficient, even under recent construction in area.
I recently visited this Westin. Upon arrival, due to construction and lack of signage- our arrival ( and each approach to the hotel) was busy, confusing and unattractive. Once you figure out your way through the construction and reach the hotel- you go upstairs where a dark lobby awaits you.
The check in staff were friendly and efficient and did a nice job holding our bags until our room was ready.
We were upgraded to a nice room with a Panoramic view of the harbor. Very nice. The hallways and room could use a refresh and feel a bit dingy and old. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were high quality.
Due to the river walk —- there was loud music playing all night. Now, it was a Saturday and this is a festive neighborhood , but to pay for a night’s sleep and have the music ( loud, not subtle) not stop until 1:50 in the morning was too much.
The bed was delightful. The night’s sleep was not. There is lots of room for investment and improvement here.
After an long journey, spending more than 16 hours in planes, I had the very bad surprise to find that my room had been sold.
It's totally incomprehensible especially since early in the day we had informed the hotel about my expected late arrival.
How it could be possible to experience this kind of outrageous methods in a hotel supposed to deliver “high standards”?
The worst is that my interlocutor (Craig) did not show any listening, the discussion with him was quickly tense and lively, he was not professional at all.
I had to wait for an hour a taxi (he asked me to wait outside the hotel and he also threatened to call the police - no comments!).
Finally I have been relocated in another hotel (lower class) and this night, thanks to the Westin, I slept only 2 hours.
This is the worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel.
