How to Get There
It's an OK place with lots of things for kids to do. It's overpriced though. I just spent a week here with my family and we did have a great time, but we would never go back. The rooms are a bit run down and you pay a lot for them. You can get better accommodations elsewhere. The staff is wonderful! We are seasoned travelers and you can get a much better bang for your buck elsewhere.
My Daughters, grandkids, and some friends stayed for a week in a variety of foom configurations.
6 of us stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with an attached adjoining room. It was huge with plenty of space and sleeping options. We also had a crib brought in (for a small fee.$25.00?)
There was plenty of fun things to do that were included with the wristbands. Several of the really great stuff was $5.00 to $20 extra cost.
Staff was nice enough. .. though I warn of the risk of riding the elevators! 5 of our 11 or more group did get stuck (for 15 minutes or more) on a faulty functioning elevator between the 1st and 2nd floor.
It was hot. no a/c and they got sweaty and hot. the lights went out in tgat elevator on my grandson and son in law.
I was frantic as this was the 3rd family member it had happened to in the week. The hotel did compdnsate me for $600. and 8 drink coupons for our friend. I pray that it does not happen to someone else.
The customer service was really great. Theresa who cleaned our room, heard it was our son's birthday and left him a surprise present which made him so happy. There were so many activities for the kids - we always had something fun to do. We're definitely looking forward to coming back soon.
My sister lives in Florida and booked this resort for us for a girls weekend. It's a minimum 2 night stay. We stayed a Friday and Saturday night. I think checkout was 11am but my sister dropped my other sister and I off at Tampa airport (which is 30 mins away without traffic) before the checkout time.
Upon arrival to the resort, we were greeted by a nice parking lot attendant. He asked our name and if we had a reservation we said yes and he gave us our parking pass. We had a nice bell hop unload our car and a separate bell bring our luggage up so remember that for tipping purposes. We thought first guy was brining luggage also. So we got to check in desk and Kaitlyn helped us and she was so very nice and helpful explaining everything and accommodating room requests and answering questions. We were able to split the room 3 ways with credit cards so that was nice. Keep in mind there is a $40 resort fee added per day on top of regular price. So we figured that fee was expensive but once being in the resort I found it to be good for the activities they offer. We got a room with a partial gulf view and a little kitchen area that had a small fridge and a microwave. We got ice from the ice machine. The tiles were like a marble smooth travertine which were nice but seemed like they needed to be polished but once we established ourselves in the room I didn't even notice that anymore. There's a HUGE mirror in the living area which is so helpful for everyone getting ready at the same time. The shower was good and bathroom was a normal size. There was an ironing board and iron, and one tv in bedroom with a closet and dresser and 2 double beds, courtyard windows, and a tv in the living room with a couch that we think was a sleeper couch. The balcony was a shared pathway for others to get to their rooms, so it was nice but not private to hang out on.
We did see a wedding take place there at sunset which was sweet.
Outside there are thin fishing line type of strung that you barely notice but this keeps the seagulls and other pesky birds out of the resort area since they want to steal your food any chance they get. Speaking of food, you are allowed to bring coolers on the beach and food etc. You are entitled to one cabana per room per day. They did say if it's not busy you can have another but apparently 4th of July week was full capacity. The resort for being at fill capacity didn't seem overcrowded and the dining didn't have a long wait.
The beach had white powder sand. There's a small strip of broken shells to walk over but then it gets soft again. The gulf is calm and not too deep upon entry so it's great for kids.
They set up blow up ocean slides and stuff for an additional fee. There is a free huge water slide which is a lot of fun, I went on it.
There's nice rattan wicker tables and couches outside at the tiki bar and the stables have little fire pits in them which is a sweet touch. There was live music playing a lot of times we were out there.
The last night we were there we were treated to a free firework show on the beach at 9pm. It was very short but really nice and it was close not out on the water. You also could see fireworks down the beach from other resorts (4th of July week) which was nice. The last night we were there they also had some like carnival come in and set up. I believe they were selling wrist bands to it and I think I heard $20 per kid unlimited rides. Good for kids like 10 and under. I heard they do that setup only once per year.
We ate at the flying pelican or something like that. It was on the grounds and reasonably priced for swordfish topped with crabcake $23 and my other sister got grouper I think it was like $28. You get a potato, a roll which was so good, and vegetable too. They also have non seafood. My neice got a turkey burger.
The lobby was beautiful and we had to wear wristbands the whole time.
I wish they had queen beds but it was fine for us as we aren't overweight but sharing small beds like that has to be considered if doing a guy or girls weekend.
Overall I recommend this resort. The elevator can be slow at times but it wasn't constantly in use like I experience in some hotels in other places so it was fine.
I have kids and know they would've loved to go there so maybe I will take a family trip there one day with my husband.
Try it out you'll like it!
I have never experience such an amazing staff in a place this size. Never did I encounter an employee that wasn't friendly, respectful, helpful and pleasant.
Rooms, facility, amenities were amazing. Patty, Beau and Kiyonna are out of this world.
