How to Get There
We had a great time at the SLS in Brickell. The staff upon check in was very polite as well as thru out our stay. The room was comfortable and the location is great. We ordered room service a couple times during our stay and the service was prompt. The hotel also provides a free car service within a 3 mile radius but every time we tried to use it they never had a driver available even tho the cars were parked right outside. The price per day for parking is a little ridiculous at $45 a day. Lastly, my husband and I got a good giggle out of one of the gentlemen working the front desk. He was very polite but was in need of some serious training. We are from Miami and are familiar with the area but just wanted a breakfast recommendation near the hotel. The gentlemen’s response was something along the lines of “ yea there’s a lot of restaurants and cafes they are all good” never once recommending the restaurant about 50 feet away Filia which is sooo good!! I would definitely recommend the SLS.
The only great thing the hotel has going for it is the front desk staff. The "coffee station" next to it is meager and very small. The room layout is odd and quite cold both in surroundings and underfoot. The modernism of the bathroom is uncomfortable, with sliding door everywhere, a sink that is way too small for even a smaller person and absolutely no privacy if there are (2) people in there at the same time. However, the balcony was nice! The biggest shock came when I received a bill 10+ days after my visit for $50. When I called to inquire, they said it was for "taking a shoe and laundry bag". That's it. I am surprised I did not get charged for the shampoo. SO PETTY...
Not the best experience here.
The front desk was great..warm and helpful. But that’s where things end.
Design of the room was odd...bed in the middle of the room. Bed was way too soft..:I couldn’t sleep well at all. Also the hotel is on lower floors of a high rise meaning you are very close to the street and noise...a car alarm interrupted my sleep in addition to back up alarms from a lift going off in the morning. Also smoke from the restaurant inundated the balcony:
No towels or attendant at the pools...place was a ghost town and doesn’t get much sun in the afternoon.
The best part of the hotel was the restaurant, Fi’lia...it was excellent.
Sorry SLS, I’d probably not be back.
I have spent a couple nights there, the place is ok, lots of mirrors everywhere, bath is ok, pool is not bad, etc :)
The restaurant are kinda overrated but not bad at all. The checkin took a lot of time, the room was not ready even after 5:00 PM.
However, the overrall time was ok and the experience in total was fine.
This was our second stay. Last trip we complained about the lack of an in-room coffee maker, it now has an espresso maker - problem solved - thank you SLS Brickell. Our room this time was 414, quite large with a wrap around deck the was perfect to enjoy the afternoon shade and view the street action. For some reason the management gave us a bottle of wine on our third night - much appreciated. Our only complaint this trip was that we were surprised by an unexpected $29.00 facilities service fee. Of the four front desk people we dealt with three were wonderful. The complimentary car ride to our cruise ship was much appreciated. This hip and slightly quirky hotel is in a great location, surrounded by restaurants and close to the free people mover. We highly recommend it.
