Sophisticated 100-room Cipriani family property far from South Beach’s nonstop party scene, with plenty of coastal Italian glamor and nautical accents
The porthole-like windows in each of the blue-and-white guest rooms are the most obvious nods to the ocean at this Biscayne Bay beauty, though the high-gloss timber paneling in the lobby, reminiscent of a yacht’s cushy interiors, are a close second. However, because it’s run by fourth-generation Cipriani brothers, tributes to the family’s native Italy—Murano glass chandeliers, terrazzo flooring, and a bar devoted to the Bellini, founded by the family patriarch himself—are equally prevalent. Coconut Grove’s laidback backdrop lends the hotel a resort-ish vibe, as do the ultra-luxe cabanas that edge the rooftop pool. Reservations are critical at Bellini, where crowds come to dive into regional Italian fare like spaghetti with sea urchin and fritto misto. For a more laid-back vibe, dine poolside—guests can order from the hotel’s pizza oven or choose from a menu of light bites—and experience the hotel’s same signature brand of inimitable personalized service.
In the Area
Coconut Grove, considered Miami’s oldest neighborhood, is an especially charming and green section of the city. Coco Walk, the iconic 200-year-old outdoor mall, is currently poised for a makeover, but that doesn’t mean the rest of neighborhood is sitting idle. Stop by Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, an Italian Renaissance-style villa whose manicured gardens often host free events like outdoor yoga, or embark on a historic bike tour, which begins at nearby Miami City Hall. Be sure to make time for Vicky’s House, a retro-themed milk shake bar, and, if you’re still hungry, continue noshing at the organic farmer’s market—a weekly gathering featuring a vegan cold-food bar and fresh Thai coconut water.
How to Get There
I didn't stay at the hotel but entertained a client for dinner here. First, the valet was expensive, but, ok. But, it appeared to me that there was some funny stuff going on as sometimes happens with valets. Management needs to get their arms around this. Bellini is very well appointed but what makes the eatery is the staff. Front of house was sharp, attentive, and well-versed in the restaurants offerings. Orders were taken efficiently and food arrived at proper temperatures. Drink offerings were robust. The view from the deck outside, of the bay, is exceptional. It is a lovely way to end the day. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I'll use them again.
Beautiful hotel in Coconut Grove Florida. Lets start with the good. Location, Rooms, Friendliness of a majority of the staff, views of the bay, Pool and service from the staff at the pool. What went wrong, most of the staff at the front desk needs to pay attention to their customer needs and follow through with customer requests. Ordered extra pillows and ice the afternoon of arrival and ordered ice the next three days of our stay and NEVER arrived I had to go to the bar in the lobby each day to get ice. Expressed concerns with Management and was NEVER acknowledged. Lastly at check out we had an additional $115 in charges for parking and mini-bar charges. Problem was we did not have a car and would have loved to use the mini-bar but without ice that would have been a problem. The front desk did reverse the charges once brought to their attention. This could be a fantastic Hotel but to many issues with basic service requests.
It’s another property of well known Beverly Hills Mr C brand. Everything clean and modern. Fine service and amenities. Location is very special - no beaches around but closed to the port with fishing boats, jet skis and other things.
Room prices are quite low for now - it means you spend for dinner at fantastic Italian Restaurant on the roof much more than for night at big hotel room.
