How to Get There
Hotel had a very charming flair about it. Staff was wonderful and food was great. Rooms need serious updating. Not enough outlets to accommodate today's technology. Had to reconfigure the entire room to make it work for phone chargers and my husband's CPAP machine. Bathtub/shower combo incredibly difficult to get in and out of. This was not just an issue for older people in our party but I heard a couple of younger people comment on the same thing.
The staff were kind and friendly overall. Love the unique architecture and gardens. The hotel is quite dated once you enter the rooms. Found the room to be dirty. Looked at mattress edges to find dirt, hair, crumbs etc.
Roberto was great and helpful, very concern about our stay and hotel overall.
Room was very nice and specious. Top floor pool very nice.
I really recommend to hotel and location.
One of my favorite area in MIAMI is Coconut Grove.
The pictures of this hotel are not what it is in realty
The hotel is run down and not very clean
The cleaning staff is very sloppy
The constant noise from construction is very annoying
The hot tubes are filthy and worn
The rooms are worn and in need of renovation
The worst is their pool area absolutely filthy and dirty
The cushions on the chairs and sofa are full of stains and oil
The furniture is torn and broken and the floor which is stone is dirty and full of oil stains
The restaurant outside on patio had crochets that were about 2 inches big and when confronted they said it came from plumbing
There were some on the ground which they had not swept up but when we saw the live ones no one ever admitted to having them seen before
The gym is out of date and not functional at all
Total experience very very disappointing and sad
26 years after graduating from the University of Miami, four close friends and former "Sugarcanes" (batgirls for the UM baseball team) reunited for the first time during Homecoming weekend in November. When considering where to stay, we had fond memories of The Mayfair, and called up to explore availability. We decided to stay there, as it is in a prime location, in the heart of Coconut Grove, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and beautiful gardens/scenery. When we arrived, we were greeted by The Hotel Manager, Michael Zolcak, who immediately made us feel at home. We let him know were in town for a special occasion - UM Homecoming weekend and close friends reuniting for the first time. He then upgraded us to a gorgeous 2 bedroom suite with a balcony and hot tub. We were thrilled. The service was amazing, both at front desk, in the restaurant, and at the rooftop pool/bar. And the hotel décor is unusual and charming. We had the most amazing experience at The Mayfair and intend to make it an annual event!
