This Downtown Miami hotel makes quite the first impression, thanks to a striking 18-foot Spindle sculpture by Henry Moore that takes center stage in the lobby. The guestrooms feature minibars, flat-screen TVs and marble bathrooms stocked with Agraria products. Start your stay with a massage at MySpa or an afternoon sunbathing by the rooftop pool, cocktail in hand courtesy of the Bluewater restaurant, which serves casual fare like pizzas and salads. For fancier fare, head to chef Richard Sandoval’s pan-Latin restaurant Toro Toro (note to weekend visitors: there’s a “Bottomless Brunch” on Sundays). Breakfast is served either à la carte or buffet-style at Olé.
In the Area
The concierge recommends renting a convertible from the hotel’s on-site car rental service, then driving down Old Cutler Road to Matheson Hammock Park and the beach. For lunch head to Finnegan’s, on the river, and order the mahi sandwich and a mojito. Spend the afternoon exploring Little Havana, including Maximo Gomez Park, known for its groups of domino players, and have a cup of Cuban coffee at Versailles Restaurant on 36th Avenue. In the evening put on your dancing shoes and head to Hoy Como Ayer, a local hangout for Cuban music fans.
How to Get There
We stayed at this hotel one night before embarking our cruise ship. We arrived very late in the night, after a very long flight from Europe and we received a room with twin beds despite the fact that we booked a double. We only wanted a comfortable place to sleep and it proved that the beds were huge, so we could both easily fit in one. We were very eager to embark the ship next day, so we did not get to use any of the amenities, but hopefully we will next time :) the room was big and very clean and the bathroom was huge! Very nice lobby and I loved the Christmas tree!
I was in Miami for a business meeting at the Intercontinental. The front desk staff was very helpful as my reservation was incorrect in their system but was rectified very quickly. In fact, they gave me an upgraded room with a view of the water. When traveling to Miami, I will try to stay here.
I've been to Friday night Salsa Night twice at Blue Water and have had an AMAZING time! Every time I go, the staff is great. The bar tender, Ashae, mixes great drinks and Cliff is really good about keeping the drinks orders on point!
If you're looking for a great time on Friday night, this is definitely a good choice. With the excellent views and the roof-top atmosphere, you'll have so much fun!
Checking in experience - Lovely staff to help you with your bags...opening doors, big smiles and warm welcomes.
Checking out: No follow through. As you are no longer a guest, you're struggling to balance door opening, lugging heavy bags and figuring out the best way to take them down the stairs at the exit....one by one.
It's annoying because this isn't the cheapest of hotels, and thus expectation is decent service. Too bad leaving on a negative note because I did otherwise have a good time.
Rooms - spacious, clean and fresh.
Bathroom - Large, however tub was crusting at the drain.
Location - Close to train station, shopping, restaurants, water front entertainment.
Perfect location next to the bayside park (amphitheater ).
Wonderful spacious rooms , great bathroom and shower!
Customer service on point. Lobby and front of hotel was a little hectic but they deal with a lot of volume .
Lobby and Bar were fun at night! Especially watching the ballroom-all people were dressed with gowns and was beautiful to watch.
Will stay there again.
