How to Get There
We booked months before as a one night stay before picking up a car and heading out of Miami, it looked lovely on the pictures. We had been on a 10 hour flight from the UK plus 2 hours queuing at immigration. We got the courtesy bus which took about 10 minutes to arrive and a further 15 to get us there. The bus driver was very pleasant and jolly.
On arrival we upgraded to a bigger room with a view it was fantastic, views of the lagoon, Miami and the airport. We walked the grounds which are lovely. The little shop on site sold Starbucks drinks, plus soda, wine and light foods. We had a sandwich when we arrived and then coffee and a fresh muffin taken outside for breakfast.
The room was clean the beds comfortable and it had everything you needed. We slept really well and that’s very unusual on our first night.
The staff we interacted with were also lovely and friendly we would happily have stayed longer and will definitely book it for our next visit.
arrived here for a pre cruise stay. getting the free shuttle from the airport was not very painful, we waited about 5-6 minutes for the bus to arrive. arrived at the hotel about 15 min later and were on our way to the front desk. this is where things left a bad taste in my mouth. I had reserved Suite 650 months earlier on the Hilton app, so I knew exactly what room I was to get. The app on my cell didn't say my Digital Key was ready so I went to the front desk to ask if our suite was ready. I was immediately told that he had to check to see if my room was ready and if not, there would be a $50 charge to put me in a room that was ready. Now I've been with Hilton a long time and have never heard of a hotel charging me extra to check into a room early. I went back and forth with him for a while and I lost. I was tired, hungry, and didn't feel like waiting in the lobby for my room to be ready. So I told him to give me a room and charge me. When he handed me the keys it was for MY SUITE THAT I RESERVED MONTHS AGO! I was charged $50 to get access to my room before checkin. Let me put this in perspective. I would have swallowed this poison pill alot better if my room was not ready and I had to get another room or something like that. But my suite was ready! just sitting up there empty and clean. I'm in the lobby with a reservation for that very room. so Management at this hotel would rather let me sit in the lobby when MY room is empty and clean, and then extort $50 out of me to get the keys a few hours early. What they should have done is lie and say that my room isn't ready and gave me another room to justify the upcharge. But to hold my suite for ranson just to get $50 more out of me just had me hot the entire stay. I called downstairs to complain when I got to the room and was told that the upcharge fees are listed on the website. I checked, they are. So that's my fault not reading the fine print. But I still can't see why if the room that I picked out was ready and I'm in the lobby looking at the front desk, I was forced to pay extral for a room that was ready and clean.
The hotel lobby looks modern and sleek, until you turn the corner and get in the elevator. that's when you can see the age of the hotel. Not a bad thing, just not as up date as others. the suite was clean, big, and had a screened balcony over looking the lagoon. we ate breakfast downstairs. pricey. $26 per person for all you can eat. I think with coffee, juice, and tax it came to over $60. I have no problems with this hotel or the restaurant, the rooms, the shuttle. everything was fine. What I can't get past is being charged $50 for a room that I booked in advance, and that was empty and clean when I got there, and basically being told that the hotel would rather have customers sit in the lobby and leave an empty room empty if they can't get more money out of you.
We are gold Hilton Members and love this hotel when we start or finish a cruise. This time we could hear the elevator so I recommend a room further from the elevator. Great service at the reception and great room service .
