Overview

A convenient, four-star stay in a spacious suite with one or two bedrooms, complete with a full kitchen – includes options for up to four adult guests

The Lowdown

Think the Magic City action always happens in South Beach? Think again. Historically the local financial district, Brickell is giving SoBe, if you’ll pardon the expression, a run for its money. Curbed recently published the results of a real-estate study finding that main-drag Brickell Avenue is Miami’s hottest street. Vogue, meanwhile, called the area “the lesser-known Miami neighborhood you need to check out” in late 2016. Stylish nightspots have been steadily cropping up since the opening of Blume Nightclub, followed by everyone from the Miami New Times to Haute Living.
In a city where the It bar, lounge and fashion boutique changes as fast, and unpredictably, as the songs on the latest dance remix, a new It destination has arrived, and you’re going to want to check it out. Base yourself Fortune House Hotel, a convenient, comfortable and central base, where each suite comes with a walk-in closet and furnished balcony. You also get access to laid-back Madison’s Restaurant and Lounge, with a host of other eateries just steps away. Oh, yeah – we forgot to mention that Travel + Leisure also called Brickell a burgeoning “restaurant epicenter,” in its article “Miami’s New Food Scene.”

Suites

Each suite is spacious and generously appointed, comprising a living room, a dining room, a bedroom, laundry facilities and a bathroom. The pièce de résistance is your furnished balcony, with your choice of views of the city or the water.One-Bedroom Superior and Luxury suites both measure a spacious 650 square feet and offer a king bed in the master bedroom. For 950 square feet and an additional bedroom featuring one queen bed, opt for the Two Bedroom Superior or Luxury suite. In both cases, the recently renovated Luxury options are more upscale than the Superior abodes, with higher-end furniture, appliances and finishes. Luxury accommodations also include one very convenient perk: daily breakfast.

Dining

Madison’s Restaurant and Lounge dishes up made-to-order breakfasts, lunches and dinners that bring together contemporary and traditional flavors. Other restaurants abound in the area, specializing in everything from Peruvian to Japanese cuisines.

Location

It’s no longer a secret that Brickell is the new South Beach, and as a Fortune House Hotel guest, you’ll be blocks from many of the venues that have made this neighborhood so happening in recent years. Among them are Mary Brickell Village, a shopping hub that houses jewelers, fashion boutiques, a gelateria and a Rosa Mexicano outpost, and Blume, which was “first true nightclub experience” in Brickell and whose opening was followed by everyone from the Miami New Times to Haute Living. We also recommend visiting the impressive prehistoric Miami Circle. Hop in the car to head downtown or into Little Havana, Coconut Grove or Coral Gables.

Great 2 night stay
KUExplorer

We stayed at this property for 2 nights in August and chose this hotel as we weren't particularly fond of the colonial/art-deco style decor of most miami beach/south beach art-deco hotels (plus the price for these was a lot higher for a lot less quality). So we decided on this hotel for its up-market downtown location, price, modern/contemporary look and feel and for the great reviews. I'm pleased to say that we made the right choice. The location is good, close to the bay (some rooms will have a full/partial view of the bay) and close to some local shops and many restaurants within walking distance. It's about 20mins drive from MIA airport and fairly easy to get to. Miami Beach (Mid-beach and South Beach) are about 25mins away (with normal traffic). The check-in process was quick and staff were very friendly and helpful (including the friendly valet guys who opened car and hotel doors and made us feel very special). The lobby area is clean and modern with marble floors and sparkling chandeliers which makes you feel like you are in a luxury hotel. There is a deposit to pay which is about $100/$150 dollars depending on the length of your stay (this is common around all of Miami unfortunately). Our room was on the 19th floor and there are 4 elevators which serve the hotel. We never had to wait long for an elevator even though 1 was out of service for the duration of our stay. The interior of one elevator however, is in desperate need of a fix up as it seemed it was under construction or renovation and was dark, dingy and almost scary to be in! The other 2 were fine and in line with the hotel. We were given a room upgrade for free which was nice, and we were impressed with our room on entry. It was more like a little apartment with a long hallway leading to the kitchen and living room area. The Kitchen had a large fridge-freezer (with ice-maker), dishwasher, sink, microwave oven and cooking area. Glassware, cutlery and dishware were provided. There was also a laundry/washer in the hallway too. The living area/lounge had a long sofa chair and separate single sofa, large 42inch cable TV (lots of channels, including HD channels and great signal) coffee table and separate dining table with seating. There is also a walk out balcony with enough space to sit out if you wanted to. The separate bedroom area was spacious and the king size bed was large and comfortable. The room itself was modern and clean and was well lit (even without the small window looking outside) The room also had a free safe that could be used, iron and ironing table and another large 42inch wall-mounted flat screen cable TV (2 TVs in a room is generally a sign that you're in a nice place!) The separate bathroom featured a walk in shower (rain shower) and the usual amenities + hairdryer. Although required and expected, I think the hotel should reconsider providing individual small plastic bottles of shampoo etc to be more environmentally friendly. The air-con worked great and doesn't make too much noise. There is a fan vent too which is fairly loud but you can turn this off and just have normal air-con operating. Free WiFi was provided and the connection was generally strong and stable throughout the stay. As we only stayed 2 nights we didn't need the room to be cleaned. Although we were out for most of the day, we really enjoyed coming back to this clean and lovely room each night and unwinding on the sofa watching movies. We wish we could have had more time to enjoy just being in the room. Its especially beautiful at night with the lights off with the city lights from nearby buildings basking the room in a blue ambiance. There was also a pool and amenities on 6th floor and room service is available although we didn't make use of or visit these due to not having enough time. Finally, I would say that the valet/parking rates are perhaps quite steep, especially if you are staying for a week ($25 for each 24 hour period) although despite the price, the service was quick and we always had our car within 5 minutes and it was nice to know that the car was parked safely nearby. Perhaps FH should consider a reduced rate for people staying for 4 or more days - something like $15/night or $75/week would be far more reasonable and would probably encourage people to stay longer because at the current rates, someone would have to fork out $175 just to park their car for a week at the hotel even if they didn't make use of the valet service throughout the week! We really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly stay again in future so long as it was a similar rate.

We got a 2 bedroom which was very nice. Comfy beds. Washer and dryer was great to wash clothes after the beach. Beautiful views. Close to the Miami metro mover. We loved all the room in the room. Only drawback is that they are doing renovations on the floor with the pool and fintess center.
