How to Get There
People are so wiick to complain but I wsnt to start with words of praise for a great group of people on our recent family trip to Florida. We recently stayed at Long Boat key resort znd met the best people at the pool and the beach. Jane the mamager and her crew of Zach and Riley were just fantastic. They were professional, friendly, courteous and extremely helpful to us on the resort. LBCR is very lucky to have Jane and her staff working with their guests. People like Jane make one's trip special.
I gave this place 2 stars because of the view of the beach and being right on it. The food in the restaurants was good, but pricey. As far as the rest of the review, this hotel is way over priced. Our room was extremely small and the walls were paper thin. We could hear a family of 5 with screaming kids all the way up until bedtime. You could hear every word that was said. At night, the amount of light in the room was over-whelming. If I had not had a sleep mask I could not have slept well at all.
I don't know how this place gets such high reviews. We will never be back.
Overall property is great, with beautifully manicured grounds and beach. The hotel is a little outdated and could do with some modernization (stucco and tile everywhere) but it kind of works for the beachy feel.
Loved our time on the beach. Justin C from Boucher Brothers took care of our clamshell and daybed set up. He was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the day.
Mandy and Mark brought us drinks on the beach all day. They were absolutely fantastic and work so hard to compensate for a poorly set up system. Service was slow but it was not their fault. Someone please get them a mobile POS and a bigger bar. It's crazy to think 2-3 waiters can serve 150+ people with a bar that's 500 yards away (and also serving an additional 100 people at the pool). They each carry around 60+ paper receipts because nothing is digital and have to print a new one every time you order a drink. In 2019 this shouldn't be a problem.
We have also stayed at the Ritz in Sarasota. The Ritz has better infrastructure and a nicer hotel, whereas LBKC has direct access to a beautiful beach and more amenities on property.
All in all, we plan to come back. Hopefully they will have invested in some new food and beverage service infrastructure by then.
For 7 years our party of 3 has stayed at different gulf coast 4-5 star resorts for both a spring trip and a fall trip and assumed from the advertising it should be top notch.
First off the door to our room was dirty and had chipped paint. A fresh coat of paint would have been an easy fix. The room had low ceilings and outdated furniture. Everything seemed scratched up and the flooring seemed old and stained. The bathroom had stained and a slow draining tub. The bathroom exhaust fan sounded like a rocket engine when flipped light on.. For a new guest room there was just 1/4 of toilet paper roll. We are capable of putting on a new roll but there wasnt an extra roll in the room. The bathroom pocket door between vanity and bed area was completely jambed shut so no privacy if you wanted for dressing. The pull out loveseat had a very thin uncomfortable mattresses.
The supposed “gulfview room” actually viewed a tennis court fence, utility boxes, busy road, and a glimpse of gulfcourse across the road. The pool was awkward to get to walking thru a parking lot and also nothing great. We thought the Landscape strangely needed attention for a luxury resort.
We wanted help with dinner reservations and was told to talk to the consierge desk. So we left a voice message at 4pm to return our call. Never got a call back that day nor the next day!
Went to pool bar for sandwich and beer but was grossed out while maintenance staff pulled out full dripping bags out of trash around us and literally drug the heavy bags on the concrete patio making a liquid trail thru the pool area, then loaded onto a larger trash can with wheels. all within 6 ft from us. They proceeded to wheel past our table and other tables while still dripping. Food was okay nothing great.
The next morning not sure why but we tried the Free ($20 per person) buffet breakfast Again with partially wiped down tables, dirty floors, no waitress to be found to refill coffee, no salt and pepper. A person showed at end for us to sign a tab for a $30 gratitude. too funny. So glad we only booked this place two nights and headed elsewhere for the rest of the week. We all agreed as we drove away we will never be back. By far the worst resort we’ve ever visited in Florida. 3/15/19-3/17-19.
We visited here via boat and were welcomed by a distinguished gentleman with a British accent who helped us into our slip.
We plan to return as this is a very nice place with excellent Marina, restaurants and friendly people.
