Calm Oasis Minutes from the Beach

The Royal Palms is a well-kept secret. Inexpensive, fresh and updated room decor, fridge and microwave in room, comfy beds, a beautiful private pool area--all just a three minute walk away from the beach and ocean. The hotel is also just a short walk (5-10 min) away from dozens of restaurants and night life. Parking is only $10/night--a steal compared to other hotels and the public parking prices.

This hotel far exceeded my expectations for a short business trip. I would proudly book here again for a pleasure trip with family and friends.

Check the location, not the one listed on Google.

This hotel has two listings on Google (feedback submitted) one on the beach and the correct one. People from out of town are not familiar with street names and go by Google maps location, making look like it is on the beach. It is not.
A reputable business would want their hotel represented correctly, and I believe this is done intentionally to draw business from unsuspecting tourist in order to save a failing hotel. The hotel also had no hot water in the room, the platform bed was cracked and creeked if you turned over, dirty ice, curled blinds, over grown bushes, no one on duty, and a pool that was out of order.

What a find!

Booked this hotel for a couple of nights before joining my cruise ship. I booked it based on the location which was really close to the beach, literally one street back which was ideal, it was also in walking distance of Galleria Mall. Check in was fine (the Uber did struggle a bit as there are some roadworks further along the street). I'd booked a room for one person but it was MASSIVE, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, It overlooked the pool and was on the ground floor. The bed was very comfortable and I felt totally safe as a single female traveler. Great bathroom with massive shower and plenty of hot water and the air-con was very effective. The bar is right by the pool and open till 8pm I believe, so no rowdy late night revelers to disturb my sleep. Happy hour was from 4pm-6pm and the waiter was really friendly. I got a great price from a comparison website. There are several hotels locally in this chain and I believe main meals are served at one of the others but there were light meals available here. Beach towels were provided free of charge. So all in all a great little find with just one minor niggle: the room was so big that the TV was rather small in comparison.

Great little hotel - and a bargain!

20+ of us took over the back corner for a long weekend, and we could not have had a better time or stayed at a better place. One [long] block from the beach, across the street from the beautiful Bonnet House, and 3 pools, each different. Several great restaurants in [short] walking distance. Rooms were neat and clean. Great beds. Microwave and mini-fridge. Bar in the afternoon by the front pool. A few things needed repairing, but at the price, I'm fine with a broken towel hook! The nicest staff: they jumped on any request we had. The whole complex (Tranquilo Hotel and others) all owned by same company; they'll steer you to which would be best for your purposes.
I'd put 5 stars (my experience), but I couldn't say it's a 5 star hotel. But you'd do better only at 2.5 times the price - and you wouldn't have the charm.
I'll be back.
