It’s not easy to miss this multi-tiered white monolith on Fort Lauderdale beach: just look for the cruise ship parked on the sand. It’s not actually a boat, of course, but the 487-room resort sure seems like one—both in its unique architecture and its nautical-themed interiors. Renovated in early 2016, the décor marries soft neutrals with cool ocean tones, where guest rooms offer views of the Atlantic, Intracoastal waterway, or city skyline. The beach beckons just beyond the expansive outdoor pool; keep an eye out for cruise ships on the horizon headed for the nearby Port Everglades terminal. Don’t miss the well-known Wreck Bar, where marine-styled lighting fixtures and rope-lined tables conjure a sunken-ship motif and porthole windows provide a subsurface glimpse of the hotel pool. For a taste of Old Florida kitsch, claim a spot at the bar for the underwater mermaid show on Friday and Saturday nights.
In the Area
Just a mile south of Las Olas Boulevard, you’re close to Fort Lauderdale’s major concentration of shops, galleries, and outdoor eateries. Go to Asia Bay for sushi rolls and Thai entrées on a bustling canal-front patio or Mangos Restaurant & Lounge to sip mojitos street-side. Feeling fancy? Keep the nautical theme going at Boatyard, a high-end dockside spot serving conch chowder and local-sourced paella, or walk from the hotel to 3030 Ocean, where Chopped champion chef Adrienne Grenier helms a kitchen that leans heavily on area farmers and fishermen. After dark, head north on A1A for plenty of boozy options, like the Rock Bar nightclub and cozy Spanish-style bar at Casablanca Cafe.
How to Get There
My company held its annual conference at the B Ocean Resort in Fort Lauderdale in April 2019. As I was responsible for coordinating a great deal of this event, I had the pleasure of working closely with various members of the resort staff there. I could not be more pleased regarding the level of friendly service they provided consistently from the planning stages throughout the conference & wrapping up of our final bill. Amy H., Sales Manager & Leonor C, Director of Catering & Convention Services have both assisted me a great deal throughout the process. Both are on top of everything, knowledgeable, & truly a pleasure to work with. During the conference itself, Javier G., Banquet Captain, was exceptionally friendly & available at all times. He responded to any & all of my questions/requests quickly & his knowledge of the resort and willingness to go above & beyond for me, truly made my job 100% easier. Our first evening was a Welcome Reception at the Wreck Bar located inside of the hotel lobby. Again, all members of the staff here were friendly & helpful. The bar itself is wonderful! The atmosphere, food, & Mermaid Show were all amazing. As far as the Banquet Rooms, they were very clean, attractive, spacious, and fulfilled our needs perfectly. During the conference, they hosted 2 breakfasts & 2 luncheons for us in the banquet room. All of the food served was very yummy! The training portion of our conference (which took place in one of their banquet rooms) went off without a hitch. The windows in the room provided a perfect view of the ocean, which was just enough to provide a nice background but not be too distracting. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to enjoy the pool or beach while there, but as a resident of South Florida for many years, I can say just by looking at both areas around the resort that I would definitely recommend them to anyone traveling here. We will be holding our 2020 Conference at the B Ocean Resort next year and I am looking forward to it! I would definitely recommend the B Ocean Resort to anyone looking to hold a business conference in Fort Lauderdale!
Andrew, James and gilroy were very professional and attentive during my visit! We had a great time! The resort is beautiful and I really appreciated all the help I was given during my time there. And the staff was very friendly
You cannot go wrong with this Hotel, B Ocean resort has great service in the hotel and on the beach. The guys on the beach did a fantastic job Justin and Andrew where awesome. Next time i go back to Fort Lauderdale I will be staying here again!
We stayed at the B Ocean in Fort Lauderdale for two nights while attending the wedding of a friend, the best thing we did was to checkout early. Our planned staff was longer (only two more days (4 days total). The rooms are poorly maintained, the premium beach tower first floor is like being in a fishbowl or basement. The windows open to a public walkway so you are required to keep the curtains closed at all times or if desire any natural light you are on display. (Think zoo, petri dish, or other similar.). In addition, the state of the maintenance was quite poor, the sink and shower did not drain, the noise levels were quite high, things supposedly attached to the wall were not, and light fixtures were damaged or broken. There is more, but this should give one a general idea.
My husband and I recently stayed at B Ocean prior to and after our Royal Caribbean cruise. The front desk staff Julia was very personable and provided excellent service. She went above and beyond with her service with helping us navigate around Fort Lauderdale and recommendations on things to do. Great location and beach amenities. Thanks to Julia regardless of price we will be staying her again in the future.
