Overview

Nautical-themed resort with an iconic South Beach look located directly on the beach

The Lowdown

It’s not easy to miss this multi-tiered white monolith on Fort Lauderdale beach: just look for the cruise ship parked on the sand. It’s not actually a boat, of course, but the 487-room resort sure seems like one—both in its unique architecture and its nautical-themed interiors. Renovated in early 2016, the décor marries soft neutrals with cool ocean tones, where guest rooms offer views of the Atlantic, Intracoastal waterway, or city skyline. The beach beckons just beyond the expansive outdoor pool; keep an eye out for cruise ships on the horizon headed for the nearby Port Everglades terminal. Don’t miss the well-known Wreck Bar, where marine-styled lighting fixtures and rope-lined tables conjure a sunken-ship motif and porthole windows provide a subsurface glimpse of the hotel pool. For a taste of Old Florida kitsch, claim a spot at the bar for the underwater mermaid show on Friday and Saturday nights.

In the Area

Just a mile south of Las Olas Boulevard, you’re close to Fort Lauderdale’s major concentration of shops, galleries, and outdoor eateries. Go to Asia Bay for sushi rolls and Thai entrées on a bustling canal-front patio or Mangos Restaurant & Lounge to sip mojitos street-side. Feeling fancy? Keep the nautical theme going at Boatyard, a high-end dockside spot serving conch chowder and local-sourced paella, or walk from the hotel to 3030 Ocean, where Chopped champion chef Adrienne Grenier helms a kitchen that leans heavily on area farmers and fishermen. After dark, head north on A1A for plenty of boozy options, like the Rock Bar nightclub and cozy Spanish-style bar at Casablanca Cafe.

Terrible hotel

Staying at this hotel for two nights and so disappointed. The pictures on the hotel in no way represent how depressing this hotel is. Perhaps we are just unlucky with our room - ground floor in building nearest to the beach that affords no view whatsoever and absolutely no privacy with people walking right past window (man actually stood outside window having a cigarette looking in) meaning curtains need to remain closed so people can not peer into the bedroom. Decor of room cheap and basic. Would absolutely not recommend this accommodation

Waking up to the view of the ocean

Stayed at B Ocean Resort in December and had a great experience. The hotel is amazing, the rooms were great, but the best part was the beach! The hotel is located so that you can hit the beach, play volleyball, rent scooters, and enjoy your trip. Valet staff was always polite and quick with our car and helpful with restaurant suggestions.

Fun in the sun!

Beautiful room over looking the beach! Beach chairs with cushy mats, umbrellas and towels included in your resort fee. But the best part of our beach experience was the staff of people that made sure we did not want for anything! Daniel, Justin, Chris, Kyle Ched and John Mark. Were friendly and personable and worked tirelessly , checking people into the beach, setting us up at our chairs for comfort , and running to get us food and drinks! Definitely fun in the sun! We will spread the word to friends and family and we will be back! Mostly because of this beach staff!

Great place to stay!

My mom & I took a little getaway together to Fort Lauderdale. Usually, we go to West Palm beach but this year we decided to try something new and we are so glad we did. We stayed at the B Ocean Resort and booked through Costco. The place was wonderful, very clean and spacious. It was amazing to wake up and head right to the beach and pool. The staff was very accommodating and super helpful. Julia at the front desk made us feel so welcomed. De-Quam from the beach staff helped us every day. We appreciated all the staff and loved our stay at this resort. We will B back!!
