How to Get There
This was our second stay at this property. Our college aged son was with us this time, and we utilized the sofa bed for him during our trip. The bed was not usable. It was clearly so over used, there was no loft left in the already small mattress.The bars from the underside of the bed were all you felt when attempting to use it. We spoke to the front desk. There are no mattress replacements available, but they did offer a pillow top mattress cover to us instead. Why aren't these in place regardless? It didn't matter because it truly added no loft to the mattress at all. For the 6 nights we were there, our son slept on the couch. It was very disappointing and very uncomfortable for him.
As Marriott Platinum members, we had requested a king bed in our reservation. We received two double beds instead upon check-in. People at the front desk clearly could have cared less when checking us in, and provided no information to us about the area, the activities, transportation options or anything else relative to Clearwater Beach.
Our bathroom sink was not draining properly. When sharing that information with the front desk for a solution, the same attitude was on display. A note was written for maintenance, and we were sent on our way. Consequently, when the bathroom shower continued to leak all over the bathroom floor due to a bad caulk seal, we simply put a bath towel on the floor and did not report it for repair.
Cleaning was inconsistent, and there was more than one day when our room had still not been serviced by 3 or 4pm after being empty for the day. We opted out of cleaning on those two days entirely and simply asked for more towels.
My husband and son were looking forward to renting jet skis and securing a guided tour of the area. There is a rental stand at the hotel, although they are not part of the hotel itself. The person renting the equipment advised they won't go out on a tour (which is very costly, by the way) unless they have 3 people sign up. He took my husband's cell phone number and said he would call when someone else signed up. Needless to say, he never called. So the owner lost two paying customers that day simply because he wouldn't facilitate a tour for less than 3 people. Jet ski business during the week we were there was extremely slow, and few people were renting equipment. We were amazed that they would turn away business.
Overall, we stayed here a second time because we thoroughly enjoyed our first experience. With all of the available hotels and condos in the area, we will be trying our luck elsewhere on our next trip to the area.
We were very satisfied with this hotel, especially the people who worked there. Jennifer at front desk was extremely helpful in our room arrangements, as were many of the other staff members!
We also enjoyed a nice dinner on outside patio one evening. We intend on going back!
After going round and round about where we would go for Spring Break this year, we finally decided Clearwater. However being that we were late on deciding, our hotel/ condo options were slim to none. Luckily we were able to book this hotel with two weeks notice. Read all the reviews and must admit was a bit nervous, but after being here, the hotel is pretty nice.
The roadblock we ran into was the front desk representative who said all doubles were sold out, however they could move us across the street to The Sheraton. After provided proof that we were guaranteed doubles, she mysteriously located a room with double beds.
All hallways are on the outside, I liked that. Nice cool breeze. All rooms are set up like suites were they can easily accommodate 6-7 people. The furniture is leather...I liked that. The living room has a pull out couch. What really made the room was the view...lovely view of the bay. We sat out numerous times watching the dolphins...It was really nice.
The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is average size. One thing I did like about the bathroom was the glass door. I think in 2019 all hotels should get standing showers and glass doors only. Bathtubs and shower curtains hold so many germs.
The kids loved the pool, while the adults enjoyed the view and the drinks. The wait staff was really nice and attentive.
You also are walking distance to a convenience store, a popular breakfast spot and jet sky rentals.
We will definitely return to Clearwater in the near future, and definitely this hotel.
It was awesome Beautiful large rooms. Balcony on the water. The pool was amazing. The food and drinks were great. Reception area was fantastic. Easy parking and access. Great shuttle to the beach. Fantastic place
I was there with a friend a couple of weeks ago and the views are spectacular! The concierge, Mikel amazing!!
Here are the problems... people not staying at the hotel were using the pool. One guy came with his family and broke out a bag of chips and dip! Three guys (not staying at the hotel) were using the hot tub. Also, people were parking in the lot and walking across the street. Lastly, the weight room was missing a couple free weights and the multiple-use machine had the weights configured incorrectly.
