How to Get There
This inn and spa is right on the beach. It is well maintained and beautiful. The staff are attentive and helpful. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed and have everything you need in it for a comfortable stay (mini fridge, keurig coffee machine, wine opener, beach bag). There were bottles of water in the room that were free... The room was quiet, even with the door to the balcony closed we couldn't hear the surf. You should get a room on the 4th floor so that you can see the water. The lower floors look out over the scrub growth on the dunes and the pool. Also, rooms in the off season are cheaper if you are looking at a stay outside of summer. There are fire pits and conversation areas next to the pool. There is a bar off the reception area and Fish Out of Water restaurant is adjoining it. We didn't have dinner there but it is a beautiful restaurant and bar. In the evening, they come in and leave you bathrobes, slippers and cookies! It is a great place to stay and you can easily walk to seaside.
This is probably our 10th time staying at Watercolor Inn. It was our first time in several years. The lobby is beautiful and the grounds are well maintained. We stayed in a Dune 1st level room for the first time and really enjoyed the easy beach access. The rooms are spacious and clean. Room service is good and turndown service with cookies is a nice touch. The menu is small but adequate and good. I love the full size toiletries. The adult pool is nice but small and the beach club and camp pool are closed for renovation. Service is just ok. They asked my husband if he wanted help unloading the car. No big deal but I guess my overall opinion is that I loved this hotel when it was $300 a night. Now that it’s closer to $600 a night well I just don’t know how they can justify 5 star prices when the service and amenities are just not quite there. I do like the hotel and I will stay here again at some point, but don’t expect the Four Seasons and I will only pay off season room rates.
I stayed at Watercolor for three nights at the beginning of October. This resort is nothing short of incredible. The property, the staff, the amenities are all amazing.
All rooms are gulf-facing, which is an awesome view to wake up to. They're all also very spacious. A beach bag is provided in the room for your use at the property. Towels and toiletries are plentiful and replenished both during midday housekeeping and evening turn down. Tip: your housekeeper will turn on your sound/white noise machine during turn down, but leave it on during the day to keep the serene vibes going!
The adult pool was lovely. Sharon, the lovely poolside attendant, took excellent care of me, bringing around large cups of water and samples of blended bar drinks and smoothies.
I ate at Fish Out of Water, the on-site restaurant, for dinner. Though it was not remarkable, the space is neat.
The gym is well-kept. Tip: they have chilled towels in a mini-fridge at the gym front desk--pick one up post-workout!
The red tide was awful while I was in town, so I did not spend much time on the beach. I understand that beach chair reservations are difficult to come by, so make one as soon as you book your room.
I hope to be lucky enough to find myself back at Watercolor soon!
Wonderful accommodations, beautiful location and outstanding customer service! We plan on returning next year. Beach Club will be an awesome addition. It was closed this trip for remodeling but wasn’t that much of an inconvenience. Beach access was simple. The beaches are so incredible😍
The hotel and restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful! The place is pricey I'll admit, but the great view of the beautiful Gulf waters, restaurants, beautiful rooms, great people and more make it worth it all.
