How to Get There
My wife and I spent 5 days here. We had an awesome time. The resort staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The beach is beautiful and has all the beach toys needed to have fun. The pools are large and have chairs everywhere. The resort has plenty of restaurant choices. The rooms are spacious. The tower we stayed in had built in bunk beds for little ones. The resort has shuttles running to Baytown Wharf which is a shopping, restaurant and night clubs area. We had a great time there. We are already planning our next trip down.
This resort was perfect for our family of 4, including two young children. We reserved a junior suite with bunk beds, and the kids absolutely loved having their own space with their own TV. We also loved the large bathroom area with two sinks, one inside the shower area and one outside. The room was large and had a small fridge and microwave with a good amount of shelving and storage. It was perfect for an extended stay and was very quiet. We never heard our neighbors.
The grounds were immaculate and the beach was beautiful. You can reserve a beach set up of two chairs and an umbrella for $39/day. There's a cabana on the boardwalk where you can reserve your selected beach set-up spot for your entire stay if you wish. Set ups are available from 9am-5pm and are discounted after 1pm. The beach area could not have been more beautiful, and we loved early morning walks looking for treasures. We also appreciated the lifeguard at the beach and chose our beach set-up near him for extra safety for our kids. The hotel provides towels for the beach and pool areas.
There are two outdoor pools, one outdoor jacuzzi, and a small baby pool as well as one indoor pool and jacuzzi. The pools were clean and never too crowded when we were there. Our kids loved the indoor pool and mostly swam there.
The breakfast buffet was wonderful and included omelettes, French toast sticks, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, fresh fruit, cereals, pastries, and more. Really anything you would want for breakfast. We are Hilton Honors Gold members and received free continental breakfast buffets (the non-hot items) but could upgrade to the full buffet for an additional $7.50. We felt it was well worth the money to upgrade. Children under 5 eat free, and children under 10 eat free with the purchase of an adult buffet (as part of the resort fee). So at least one of us adults had to purchase the buffet upgrade to receive a free buffet for our 7-year-old. But for our entire family to eat a delicious breakfast for $15 total, we felt it was a great deal, and we both upgraded each time. The outdoor restaurant, Barefoots, was just okay, and I felt they had a limited menu. We also were not impressed with the on-site Pizza Hut, which seemed to serve overpriced pizza that had been sitting for quite awhile. Our kids loved the two ice cream shops.
The resort area felt very safe, as the entrance was guarded, and a key card was needed to enter the parking lot.
For the most part the staff were very friendly and seemed to work very hard to keep the place looking nice. I would like to mention that the boardwalk on the far left (nearest the Emerald Tower) is very slippery, especially when sand is present. Our daughter fell several times on it, and we witnessed several others falling there as well, including one adult.
Overall, we cannot say enough about how much we loved this resort. It met all of our needs and surpassed our expectations. We hope to return soon!
I love a great view and they definitely had one! We could see dolphins swimming in the ocean and even string rays. The valet and concierge staff were very friendly and very helpful, as well as the guys helping us to our beach rentals. The sandcastle manager and the dinner server were great with our picky eater kids. The room was very clean and I loved that it was family friendly. I have only two complaints and that’s that the beds were not very comfortable and that the food was overpriced for the quality. Quality food lacked from the restaurants only. The market was good. I would definitely stay here again, just order food delivery or go somewhere else.
Traveling from Disney World back home to San Antonio. Have always wanted to visit Destin and this was the perfect opportunity. The Hilton Sandestin’s staff greeted us -very weary travelers- with open arms. Candace went above and beyond to help me correct and secure a reservation with a gulf beach view! Our 11 and 13 yr. olds especially like the bunk beds and having their own television.
Reed was also quite kind and helpful. Yes, this location is a bit pricey, but so worth it. We were able to walk right onto the beach from the bank door of the hotel. Then returned to play in one of their two pools. Luxurious towels were provided. They have a Pizza Hut on site, too! Gift shop attendant could not have been nicer. The buffet was the best delicious, too! Thank you Candace for making us feel right at home, especially on such short notice.
Service was excellent from the time we booked our stay over the phone with Wendy to when we checked out, all of the staff was friendly & helpful. Lynne had wonderful suggestions at the concierge desk. Special shout out to Yvonne in the gift shop who let me know there was an air hose by the pool towel area to use to inflate the tube we just purchased. I was not looking forward to blowing it up. She saved the day!
Beach area was wonderful. Pools are fun & clean. Shuttle to the boardwalk was perfect since we didn’t want to get back in the car after our 6 hour drive there from Orlando. Breakfast buffet was tasty, well stocked & maintained with friendly staff.
Our room was perfect for us. 2 queen beds, sofa, fridge & microwave had all we need for our stay. The only suggestion would be to have towel racks in the bathroom.
