How to Get There
We stayed here for one night. It was ok. Room was updated and clean. There were 2 queen sized beds. As advertised there was a shuttle to Malory Square. Pool was large and relatively clean. It is a 15-20 minute ride to Mallory Square. There is a $40.00 resort fee on top of your rate. Rate fluctuated a lot so you need to check it. I wish I had not made a reservation since the walk up rate on my arrival day was less than half of the first rate I got. Fine if you are staying one night but it is not a resort. It is barely in Key West.
Good check-in. Nice teddy bear for our daughter. Good parking. Not on the beach. Lots of swimming pools and bars and can use facilities at hotel next door, i.e. the gym. Got our coffee maker replaced sharpish. Shuttle bus to town.
Looks can be deceiving. I stayed at the Gates Hotel the first week of April. The hotel looks like a motel from the outside, but after I walked in, all thoughts of a motel were gone. The lobby was clean, fresh and updated. The room blew me away. The pictures from the website were accurate down to the brown leather chair and the gray couch. This hotel was tastefully renovated. The sheets were clean, the room was clean, quiet and the bed was comfortable.
The Gates hotel is about 3 miles from the public beach and 3 miles from the main attractions; Duval street etc. You can rent a bike from the hotel and ride to the beach or cross the street to take a walk along the sidewalk that over looks the beach.
Not sure if it was the time of year I stayed but the hotel and the area was very quiet.
If you are a pet lover or not, I saw guests with their dogs at the hotel.
The staff was cleaning staff was GREAT and very guest focused. Lily at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. I look forward to staying at the Gates Hotel again.
Good! We try to have towels on the pool the afternoon... Impossible! The man at the pool tells me to go to the reception and at the reception the woman tells me to go to the man at the pool! Stupid situation! are customers important for you?
Expectations not met. Rooms were not cleaned in a timely manner. Housekeeping entered while someone was in shower; when realized the woman didn’t apologize or leave room. Uncomfortable.
