How to Get There
We had a few days after a cruise so we decided to see the key west. This place was clean and very spacious rooms. Like the courtyard pool, bar area. Great staff . I really liked the free shuttle service to downtown key west . If I return I will be coming back to The Gates Hotel .
The hotel is a converted motel, which is fine, but just be under no illusions that this is a high end property. The pool is nice, but there is no hot tub. The shuttle runs to downtown every half hour, but stops at 11 pm. Bit of a downer.
One of the first resorts you see as you land on Key West, The Gates have large comfortable rooms with all the modern fittings and free WiFi. Pool is a lovely centerpiece next to the cocktail bar and the free drink vouchers for the resort next door gave a chance to check them out as well. Free shuttle to main tourist area and everything is an easy even walk from there. Runs half hourly and tends to be on time.
Staff was wonderful, hotel beautiful, & clean room. The price was great. They have a shuttle service for downtown and the driver was very friendly and knowledgable about the restaurants and where to enjoy a good drink to relax!
Nothing is "On Site, no soda machines, no ice, no snacks, you have to walk to the gym next door, use a food truck for food or go next door, then they make you pay 30 bucks a day "resort Fee" for Parking in the lot of the Hotel? Room smelled musty, bed frame was thrown together with 2x4's and cinder blocks as the base. Don't walk around barefoot, the floor's were filthy We got out of the shower and had dirty feet. The housekeepers couldn't understand English, so getting things we didn't have in our room was tough.
