How to Get There
I visited Key West beginning of March, 2019 for spring break with my daughters.
I do love Key West itself. I’ll probably return to the destination itself, but if I do, I will not be staying at Santa Maria suites.
First of all, when you’re booking, be aware that the bi-level accommodations are much much smaller than depicted in the pictures on the website.
The bedrooms upstairs with the queen beds are really tiny. The bedroom is basically the bed itself with very little room on either side to walk. And the bathroom is also very tiny. There’s one sink in there and barely enough room for even one person to move around. The shower has 2 shower heads, which is really funny, because it’s cramped even for one person.
The kitchen downstairs was really tight too.
We did take a look at the flat, which was very spacious and did depict more of what the pictures show. This is the kind of space I expected in the bilevel, so called villa, but was disappointed to see how cramped it was.
So, know what to expect if you book the villas, also called bi levels.
The customer service was also appalling. The lady in the front, Mathilda and her manager Claudia, were very unprofessional. I had an issue with the boat company Mathilda booked a ride for us with. Instead of trying to help solve the issue, she was clearly on the side of the rude owner of the boat company. She basically did not offer any help and justified the guy’s behavior, and blamed me for everything. Basically, I lost $650 on a boat ride that never happened because of the arrogance of the owner of the boat company Mathilda referred me to. He basically refused to pay me back.
She then said Claudia would call me back and she did not until an hour before we were checking out. I had called to ask for a porter to help with our luggage and then Mathilda was like-has Claudia called you. I said no, and then she said, oh sorry, she’ll call you right back. Too little. Too late.
Terrible, mediocre customer service. Average property.
Btw, the ‘free’ smoothies by the pool are horrible-sugar laden and sits in the machine for days!
Great hotel. Location was great. Can get around town easy. Can walk most places.
Smaller facility so pool area got a little full a couple days.
Front desk staff were very helpful.
Happy hour was nice each day. Water and sun tan lotion at pool was nice and convenient.
Our room backed up to South street which was a bit noisy at night and early in morning.
No great beach options close by as they were completely covered in seaweed.
My husband and I decided to make a quick trip from Miami to KW. We made reservations in H2O Suits. Upon our arrival we were greeted very professional and our room was ready. We were saddened when we learned our room was on a second floor, and without elevator. Although, they they do have elevator in the front of the building, that back did not. We immediately let them know that my husband was not able to climb the stairs do to his health. Without any delay, the young men made a call and we were sent to Santa Maria Suits. We drove two more blocks and there it was. Beautiful Santa Maria. We were given an spectacular two bedroom suit and they honored the price we were quoted at H2O.
The Santa Maria is extremely well kept, is what you see in the movies and wished you could be there. It is far from the middle of town where all the action takes place, we didn’t mind. Great place to relax, enjoy the beautiful pool and have your drink while sunbathing.
This is our sixth year with a group of 12+ people. We use this hotel as a business trip location with spouses and all in our party love the hotel and location.
The Staff is the best, ready to answer questions, solve problems and offer suggestions.
The pool area is landscaped beautifully and low key but fun, rooms kept very clean .
This small hotel was absolutely perfect for our girl's trip!! Wonderful bedrooms with a bath for each along with a great kitchen and living area. Our room was right next to the pool area - which was kept spotless by the staff. Our bartender Jason was so attentive and sweet - he made sure we had a great time! Matilda was the best concierge in the world - she gave great recommendations and was always there to help us out. Overall an awesome experience that we will definitely do again!!!
