How to Get There
Last minute weekend trip to Key West. We have stayed at Pier House before and love the location at the north end of Duval Street. Close to the action but far enough away from the craziness of Duval Street. We were in corner suite 301 overlooking the little beach on the property. Room quiet, nicely furnished, and generally clean, although housekeeping needs to do a better job of cleaning the tile floors as the bottom of my feet were black from walking barefoot. Balcony large, great view. The split AC unit was struggling to keep the room cool from about noon on but did a decent job. The property is beautifully landscaped and well-maintained. Staff friendly and helpful.
We stayed at the Pier House Resort and Spa based on a friend's recommendation, and was not disappointed. The room was big, king size bed, walk-in stone shower with rain-like shower head, fantastic air conditioner and dehumidifier (important in hot months), nice bar on the beach with live music, and inside bar for late night night caps. We loved the room as we can't imagine a better experience. The resort offers a shuttle (extended passenger golf cart) on the half hour, but we found it not dependable and often no seating, so we either used UBER or the local Duval Loop to get around the island. It doesn't make sense to rent scooters, bikes, etc. unless you want to travel outside the Old Town and New Town areas, and want to deal with the hassles. The room was maintained well daily with new bed linens and bathroom towels, and the on site maintenance crew works around the clock for any repairs if needed. Again, close to everything, this hotel/resort is perfect for us, and we will come back again.
First this is an amazing location, close to great dinning, entertainment and exploring the heart of key West. When I pulled into the lot in my rental car, an employee ask me my name and gave me a parking slip and welcomed me. I found the staff and management helpful -bringing extra towels, fabulous skin creme (eucalyptus and aloe)
We asked for extra microwave which was sent right up. Reheating all our wonderful Cuban food. The shower head was ginormous and very quiet room given our location on Duval Street. I miss this place already!
I was initially lured here by the “great”!reviews online. All I have to say is that Ebony, the night manager, has no business being in hospitality. I had a complaint (minor), and she called me with a major attitude. Ridiculous, as I was otherwise having a pleasant stay. RUINED.
BTW the room is average yet spacious, beds are comfy, the food is NOT good, the service is horrible (excepting the front desk and concierge), and when you have a problem on a Sunday evening...you get Ebony. Ebony is reason enough not to ever stay here again. I don’t expect perfection, but I do expect management to appropriately deal with situations as they arise. Not only were my concerns not addressed, I had to deal with attitude from an employee. UNACCEPTABLE. Who hired this ?!?
This hotel is pricey but worth it.. rooms were roomy, comfortable, and clean.. it has a private beach where they always had room and you never felt overcrowded.. the guys taking care of setting up the chairs and umbrellas were very attentive and set up everything quickly.. they accommodated whether you wanted more sun or preferred more shade.. on one of the days we were there two manatees were swimming there with us.. it was amazing.. bartenders Oli?? And Therese were also great. The entire staff was friendly, attentive and just fantastic.. hotel location was also superb.. near restaurants, shops, Mallory square.. they also had free shuttle to southernmost point.. Pier House is in the perfect location.. near everything yet secluded and peaceful.. i will absolutely be back, however, next time for longer than just 4 days.. it was hard to leave..
