How to Get There
Stayed for one week at the Pier House. We booked late this year so we had to switch rooms a couple times, but the staff made the changes very easy for us. There was a mix up the last couple nights we were there, but Joe D took care of us with courtesy and professionalism.
Everyone is so warm and welcoming at the Pier House. Roman is the man when it comes to moving your bags, getting you a cab, or just having a nice conversation with!
The beach bar and beach area are both fun places to be and the live music is really good.
The rooms are nicely decorated and the grounds are top notch. Stop by the turtle pond and enjoy a look at the turtles. Stop by the Chart Room and have a drink and learn about the history of the bar and what interesting items are in there! The food at One Duval is really good with a nice wine list.
I could go on and on, but needless to say the Pier House is the only place we'll stay. With a private beach and beautiful views of the Gulf (along with sunsets) you can't go wrong.
My thanks to everyone at the PH again....see you next year!!
My wife & I stayed here for 5 nights along with a group of 12 others. We all loved the location, the beach, and the pool. The beach & pool beverage service was great. We had only two meals at the attached 1 Duval restaurant and those meals were very nice & the staff was great. The beach bar was fun & had plenty of live music. The Chart Room bar was a classic dive bar you’d expect to be on a side street off of Duval. The bartender was great but they allow smoking in there which is a bummer. Nonetheless we ended up there to cap off our nights. All in all it was a very nice stay & the whole group agreed that they’d stay there again.
A quick four night getaway and a great deal found us in a basic room(280) that was certainly clean, comfortable and well serviced..and given our Expedia hotel and air cheap-o package it was fine. At the rate I was paying a view of the parking lot was not problematic..I did request we be away from the Chart Room, but at the rate we paid ( Did I mention I got a really good deal? LOL)you already know you’re getting a less than prime location in a great resort!...well the noise from the Chart Room was only a problem between 12 and 1 am..a couple of nights in a row..but hey, you’re in Key West...you want quiet.. go to a fossil farm!...we could handle it just fine..if we were drinkers we might have been there too! The lobby, resort areas, pool, spa, fitness, all very nice, beach..small but private and constantly attended to..We didn’t rent a car, and candidly no need..with the shuttle, the flat and easy terrain of Key West, the myriad of tours trolleys, and jump on and off stuff just outside the resort entrance.
What set this property apart was the fabulous staff from Bryan in housekeeping/ maintenance to Lee, the well connected concierge who hooked us up within minutes with an emergency dental appointment. Lou, the shuttle driver, to the well humored women at the front desk, morning and night that greeted with a sincere welcome.. Considering how much work it is to keep this large sprawling compound which dates back to when I had hair, it seemed to me as a businessman that there was no end of service people painting, cleaning, fixing, trimming and all quite discreetly and unobtrusively...so good job to whoever has your folks smiling. Shop for a deal or call them direct with your best one...this is a keeper.
The location of the Pier House was exactly what we were looking for. We were near busy Duval Street, but could still retreat to the quiet pool or beach of our hotel. So, location is the biggest reason I'd tell you to stay here. I'm not sure of the age of the hotel but it seemed older, although nicely updated. The lobby was smaller than I expected, but adequate. Our room was a typical hotel room. Nothing special. The closet was in the bathroom and every time you opened the closet door it would bang into the bathroom door, so that was sort of annoying, but that's the only thing negative to note about the room itself. The beds were okay, nothing special. The pillows were good. No need to fold over or double up like in many hotels. My only complaint was the amount of noise we had 2 out of our 7 evenings (after 10:00). It seemed that people were congregating in the hallway or somewhere near our room and were very loud. We did call and complain, but it continued. It was late enough that it was annoying. I mentioned it again at checkout, but it was like nobody really cared what type of experience the guest has. Don't ask if you really don't want to know. I would recommend that the hotel increase their security to prevent this type of thing was disrupting other guests. I felt that for the price we paid we should not have this type of disturbance. The pool was small but nice. The beach was also very small and nice. There were staff that brought you towels and took drink and food orders. The restaurants were also good. Overall, we had a great vacation but are exploring other accommodations for our next visit to Key West.
I should also mention the Spa was wonderful! I had a Thai Foot Massage and couldn't have loved it more. Top notch Spa!
This was our second visit and we splashed out on an ocean view room with a balcony. It was a great room to sit and watch all the boats going backwards and forwards. The bar has to be the best located on the island and the food was good and not over priced. The concierge arranged excursions for us. No complaints about anything other than please put English breakfast tea in the room! We had to ask nearly every day and ended up with loads of earl grey.
