Overview

A cozy room at a waterfront hideaway, in a wine region that's acclaimed among sommeliers

The Lowdown

Head back to nature and back in time in the beautiful Finger Lakes region. Bragdon House Bed and Breakfast/Wine Tours, on Seneca Lake, the largest and deepest of the 11, is surrounded by greenery and water outside, and packed with romantic touches inside. Experience both, without having to leave at all: the first, as you sit upon the lake-view veranda; the second, as you admire the toile wallpaper along the staircase, settle into an overstuffed armchair in one of the two traditionally designed parlors, and curl up in an impossibly comfy bathrobe.
This inviting property also serves a delicious daily breakfast, but it’s the location that really makes it worthy of its almost perfect TripAdvisor reviews and Certificate of Excellence: You’re right in the heart of the region’s best. Get your fill of cultural attractions, whether you explore the Rose Hill Mansion and dramatic Belhurst Castle, or head out antiquing nearby. You may even discover some of the 100-plus area wineries and breweries; the inn is proud to offer its very own wine tours (you pick between red, white, sweet or dry). And then there’s charming Geneva downtown, closer to you than to any other B&B, and housing FLX Table – America’s best new restaurant, according to USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice poll.

Location

A small lakeside town with big-city culture, Geneva, an Arbor Day Foundation Tree City USA, offers the stunning beauty of Seneca Lake – the largest and deepest of the Finger Lakes – as well as a friendly downtown scene full of shops, restaurants, theater and music. Bragdon House Bed and Breakfast/Wine Tours puts you on the water and near the best of this upstate New York destination, including its wineries (which you can visit on the eponymous wine tours), shopping, golfing, arts and more. Bustling Linden Street is closer to you than to any other B&B and holds FLX Table, voted the best new restaurant in America in January 2017 in USA TODAY’s 10Best.com Readers’ Choice poll. Rochester and Syracuse are an hour away each, and New York and Brooklyn four to five.

Amazing!

I recently stayed at Bragdon House for a long weekend with friends and we had an amazing time! The house is very charming and the bed in my room was unbelievably comfortable. I also had a great view of Seneca Lake from my room. Jen and Diana are incredible hosts! They're absolutely hilarious and know everyone in Geneva, so whatever you need or want to do, they can make happen. The house has a great location and it's only a quick walk to town. It's also only a short drive from a lot of great wineries. I highly recommend staying here!

I stayed at the Bragdon House for three nights with my fiancé and friends for a long weekend, and I cannot speak highly enough about my experience! Jen and Di were amazing hosts and very accommodating throughout the entire trip (not to mention hilarious and fun!). Our room was very large with great views of Seneca Lake. I often have trouble sleeping while on vacation, but the bed was unbelievably comfortable and I slept well every night. The location was perfect - plenty of parking and within walking distance of the downtown with shops, restaurants, and bars. It is also a quick drive to several of the wineries/breweries in the area. I am looking forward to staying at the Bragdon House again!

Wonderful getaway!

A friend and myself came to stay at the Bragdon House for a short getaway and to visit some of the local wineries. We were met by Jen who so kindly showed us around and got us settled in. We were then taken on a wine tour by Diana who was awesome at showing us places we haven't been before and providing coupons for tastings which saved a ton of money. Diana recommended a great restaurant for us to eat at and then we went back and relaxed on their back porch. The next day we relaxed in the morning and then went into the town and enjoyed a nice dinner at Belhurst. The entire time was lovely and the property is unique and fun to stay at! I highly recommend.

Just left Bragdon House after a stay for a girls weekend and some wine drinking. Our stay was nothing short of amazing, Jen and Di are the best hosts and we could not stop talking about how gracious, welcoming, and funny they were! We stayed in Di’s sweet which was a large room with cozy decor and a comfy bed, we couldn’t ask for more! The house is conveniently located just a few blocks from a downtown area which was great as we were able to walk to the wine bar we went to the first night. It was also just a couple minute ride to all the local wineries we went to. One of our favorite parts of our stay was waking up to fresh baked scones and enjoying them on the porch overtaking a gorgeous lake view. We can’t wait to go back again - soon!
