Amazing getaway!

We stumbled across Woodcliff while looking for somewhere to sneak off to for a quick anniversary getaway closer to home. We liked the idea of everything in one location.
The hotel is beautiful. There are two dining options, the lounge and the restaurant. The restaurant is pricey, but the location lends itself to many restaurant options close by.
There is a lovely indoor pool the leads to an outdoor pool in the summer. It is a saltwater pool, a piece of info I found interesting. Something worth noting, the pool is open to hotel guests and club members so it stays fairly well used. Also, the flooring around the pool is crumbled stone, so footwear is highly recommended! My feet did not enjoy the it! I have to say, it's an odd choice and not the best. Some of the stones had fallen into the pool and I stepped on them in there too!
There's a golf course that's fairly priced.
The spa was fairly priced and very relaxing. We loved being able to go straight from the hot tub up to the spa!
Staff were very friendly and accommodating!
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and will likely stop by again!

This was my fourth visit to Woodcliff Hotel and Spa for a business conference. The whole experience is a pleasure, where you feel spoiled by the kind and friendly service, the beautiful views inside and out, the delicious food and drinks, and the luxurious accommodations. We even saw the most spectacular sunset from the banquet room window on Friday night. Nice touch, Woodcliff!

Not quite as advertized

I was at this hotel last week on business. I was excited to see the pictures on the website when I learned where our conference was going to be. I was a bit let down. First of all, my room was quite near to the hallway for the spa. Unfortunately by clothes all smelled like the aromatherapy products used in the spa, and I am quite sensitive to smells.
Next, the front desk asked for my phone number when I checked in, but I really wasn't expecting them to text me and ask how things were. I asked for sugar, since there was a Keurig in the room and I didn't find either sugar or creamer. The clerk said, "There isn't any?" Now, why would I ask if there was some? She said she would send some up. I waited about 20 minutes with no results. I decided that I would go somewhere else to eat and have tea instead. As I left my room I bumped into someone with housekeeping and got some from her. No one from the front desk ever brought any.
When I returned from dinner, I decided to go to the pool. Whose brilliant idea was it to glue pebbles to the pool deck? It is very painful on the feet! They also come off and are in the bottom of the pool. I was walking laps in the pool and, even though I was being careful, I stepped on them, and it hurt. Hopefully no child steps on them. The bottom of the pool is also missing plaster in a few areas. The hot tub was also missing grout in many areas. Not what I expected in a higher end hotel.
When I went back to my room, I wanted to wash up and go to bed. I found no wash cloths or hand towels. I called down to the front desk and asked for some. Again, I get the question, "There are none in your room?" Nooo. I waited about half an hour, no one came. I called down again and they said there was a miscommunication and someone would be right up. After 45 more minutes, I decided to put my coat on over my pajamas and go down to the front desk. When I opened the door, the towels and wash cloths were laying on the floor in the hallway, not the cleanest place. Why did no one knock on my door and tell me they were there?
Breakfast was to be included in the conference. Unfortunately it was only bagels and danishes. Had I known that, I would have gone out and gotten a healthier breakfast elsewhere. I realize they can't cater to all food needs, but when I asked the night before at the front desk, no one had any idea what was happening.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. I feel you can get equal service at a hotel that costs less per night.

Excellent Accomodations and Personalized Service!

I was so impressed by the friendly, attentive personalized service from all hotel staff. Our room accommodations were beautiful, clean, very spacious and comfortable. Front desk staff sent a daily text message inquiring how our stay was, and personally texted right back to our response. That was a nice touch! The wedding reception we were attending at the hotel was absolutely amazing! The decor, service, food, bar personnel and other staff were always attentive and ensured that the hosts and all guests had a great experience and enjoyed themselves. Well done for providing a beautiful memorable visit.

We started off our 13th wedding anniversary with a couples massage at Spa Elan (We purchased an overnight spa package). As a 23 year veteran Chiropractor and someone who receives regular massages, the massage was average - I guess what I would have more or less expected from a spa. She never even flipped me over on my back to properly address the neck musculature. My wife actually complained of pain after the massage that she didn't have prior. As I tell my patients, soreness post treatment is normal but pain is not.

We then went to the hotel bar for some light fare and a couple cocktails prior to going shopping at the Eastview Mall. My wife had 2 French Martinis - which she said were fantastic, and I had a couple Guinness with a glass of Wild Turkey bourbon. For food we had the soft pretzel (very salty) with dipping sauces and the crab cakes. Although the pretzel was okay, the crab cakes were delicious and I highly recommend them. The bartender appeared experienced and was friendly.

Our next stop after shopping was the hotel restaurant, Horizons. The hostess was very pleasant and wished us a happy anniversary without us even prompting that it was our anniversary. We were greeted by our waiter Marco with 2 glasses of champagne and a happy anniversary from him as well. We ordered a bottle of Reisling (that was warm/not chilled) and we both ordered the lobster bisque and it was very good. I had the scallops - they were good but not seared properly. My wife had the Domineco steak and it was very good. For desert we shared the crem brulee and it was good. They accidentally charged us for the complimentary champagne but it was removed. Marco, although a very nice waiter, was quite absent throughout most of the dinner service. We actually had to have s different waiter take our picture because we got tired of waiting for Marco to show up.

The room. Oh boy. Now, the room itself was beautiful however they must have skimped on the insulation. We were room 634 and the couple in the room next to us were very amorous and they mind as well as been having sex (all night) right on the floor next to us. It was the weirdest thing, I have been in rooms at other hotels where you could hear muffled sounds of couples having sex/talking but this was like a speaker right above our heads - so bizarre. Yes, we literally heard every single detail and noise in what appeared to be HD surround sound. Avoid this room! With this spa package it included 2 free personal pizzas in the room - which were huge and great, but they charged us for them. After speaking with the front desk the charge was removed. They also had a bottle of champagne delivered because we mistakenly looked at the wrong package and thought that it was included - so, that was nice of them.

In the morning we headed back to Horizons restaurant for the breakfast buffet (breakfast was included for only one person in this couples package which I thought was kind of odd). The offerings were very basic as it only included 6 or 7 heated items along with cold goods such as pastries and cereal. The quality was good, just not much variety.

All in all we had a very nice time and would certainly consider returning in the future. Just not Room 634, lol.
