How to Get There
I am a frequent local guest at Woodcliff Hotel and Spa. I took an out-of-town business colleague to dinner at their "fine dining" establishment, Horizons, on Wednesday night. I tried to use the valet parking, but there was no attendant for the 8 minutes I waited (and there were a dozen guests waiting for their rides). I told the host about the situation and he acted as if he were not empowered to do anything about it.
There were only 4 tables seated in the dining room at 8:15 p.m., but it still took 15 minutes to get our drinks once we placed our orders. When our colleague asked what non-alcoholic beverage they had, our server said, "I'm sorta new, I don't know." We told her to go ask.
She came back to take our orders and said, "What can I GRAB you tonight?" It lacked class, finesse and showed she wasn't trained. The other male waiter was fraternizing with the other guests as if he were sitting at the table as just another (very loud) guest. This went on for 15 minutes during our dinner. It was obvious there was no oversight of the serving staff.
I called the Manager of Food & Beverage the next morning. He was in, but too busy to take my call. As of 24 hours later, he still has not bothered to return my call.
We stayed for the weekend when my daughter got married and absolutely loved this hotel! The wedding party had the most gorgeous suites for preparing for the special day and Sunday brunch after the wedding was delicious!! I will stay here again whenever the opportunity arises!!
We stayed at the Woodcliff in July of 2019. The evening we arrived there was no parking as the hotel had booked both a large motorcycle club convention and a giant wedding. The hotel had not warned us to expect the crowds. Perhaps the staff was stressed by the amount of guests as the bathroom floor in our room had not been cleaned, and a waitress in the hotel dining room sighed and visibly rolled her eyes when we had the audacity to ask twice for water that had not been served. On our second morning, the hot water faucet for the bathroom sink, which was very loose, completely broke. I notified the front desk and when we returned in the afternoon the hotel had simply turned off water to the broken faucet, not even attempting to make repairs. We complained to the front desk, and they provided a room on the “executive floor.” Unfortunately the walls were paper thin, and that night the couple in the room beside us came in at 2:00 am and proceeded to argue loudly while blasting their TV for a couple of hours. We completed the hotel’s’ evaluation card describing these experiences and received no response whatsoever. We will never stay at the Woodcliff again.
