How to Get There
Out of this world
I received a bithday gift as an overnight stay with breakfast and dinner.
Myself and my partner went in March a Friday night. The staff were aware it was a birthday gift so we were upgraded and the room had complementary helium balloon and chocolates.
I would have to say this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in.
From the minute we entered the reception we were made to feel so special. The staff were extremely friendly, professional and could not be more helpful.
The food was out of this world, all u would expect from a 5 star hotel.
Sitting in the morning eating breakfast in a beautiful dining room overlooking my favourite ever golf course on a lovely sunny morning made my 40th birthday a weekend I will never forget.
Had a HUGE room, one of the nicest I’ve ever stayed in to be fair. Facilities great, gym, spa are very good. Bed amazing, breakfast fabulous, ball room and event facilities great. Staff very helpful and golf mind blowing
We recently stayed at the old course, a gift for my husbands retirement . Room was lovely and well equipped, although very hot during the night. We had a 3 course dinner in the road hole restaurant. Menu was nice, but unfortunately the food was average. Cured salmon, which had no taste of salmon! We were in the restaurant over 1 hour 30 mins before our main course arrived, it appeared to us we were forgotten about. Our stay was a gift, which was an itison voucher and it felt, due to this we were treated differently, which is disappointing from a 5 star hotel.
Stayed one night in March. I have always hated the exterior - the ochre is not a good choice and never enticed me to stay. However, never judge a book by it's cover. Everything about the hotel is sublime. We chose a Golf course view room and we are so glad we did. Stunning views.
The room is beautifully appointed, huge and well equipped. Service was beyond excellent and dinner was amazing. We have stayed in many top hotels and this is one of the best experiences we have ever had. Will be back soon
I stayed at this hotel last year with a group for three nights on a Scotland golf vacation. Could not have picked a better hotel! First of all, the location is absolutely amazing. Our room had views of the Old Course at St. Andrews, right along the 17th hole (The Road Hole), as well as the water just over the golf course. We stayed in a Deluxe Suite and it was very large with a sitting room, two queen beds and 1.5 bath.
From the hotel, it's a short walk to town and the many pubs, restaurants and souvenir shops, etc. It's nice to have a glass of wine on the balcony and watch groups play #1, #17 and #18. You can also walk to the putting course for a relaxing afternoon.
After golf, you can head back to the hotel for drinks at The Jigger Inn. If it's daylight, sit out on the patio and watch some golf. The food is OK but the menu is limited. Same goes for the Road Hole Bar upstairs, especially if it's cold and you want to go inside. Amazing views and decent TVs for sports watching. We also had dinner at Sands restaurant. Definitely not cheap, but you're dining at The Old Course Hotel so what do you expect? Very good food and a nice wine selection.
The hotel is expensive for everything but I wouldn't stay anywhere else if I were golfing at St. Andrews. We found some decent restaurants and pubs in town, so you can save some coin that way.
