Room with a view

We stayed in a beautiful suite-The Thomson room-216, overlooking the 18th hole and St. Andrews beach in the distance. We had a sitting area with our own library. There was a Nespresso machine and the service bringing fresh milk was very quick. The hotel oozes character and the reception manager, Linda?, was exceedingly helpful and welcoming. This is the top of our MacDonald favourites! We will surely return. Ps we also met the manager, who was very personable.

So much hidden history.

Well, it was very special to stay here during The Seniors Open. Normally I would/could never pay such a exorbitant high price.
Our room certainly wasn't worth it.
The receptionists were fatastic!!! All the staff was very helpful!!
They had a hard time with handling breakfast.
Had just an unforgettable time in this unique hotel.

Dissapointing pleasure

This is my second time in the Rusacks Hotel, St Andrews. The charm, history and location is unparalleled! My stay was a pleasure.
My disappointment was with the restaurant/breakfast lounge. I have had poorer service in Europe! We stayed 3 nights and had 2 breakfasts. From the reception through to the food was disappointing. The continental part was good, but no plates on the first day. It seems only two girls worked there at any given time, and they were not up to the game. We had to clear our own table between dishes. The porridge was undercooked and some got their orders completely wrong.
I will still recommend this hotel, but they should sharpen up their act in the restaurant.

Traditional luxury

Bang in the middle of the golfing Mecca that is St Andrews I can’t think why you would want to stay anywhere else. Other than the cost but then nothing in St Andrews is cheap and people come there prepared to pay over £200 for a round of golf and even at that price you have to queue up from before dawn.

The hotel is old and grand and incredibly comfortable. It is the sort of place foreigners probably think all British hotels are like.

Great views

Our fourth floor upgraded room (Bing Crosby) had views of the 18th. Couldn’t beat that. The room is large and well appointed. The bathroom a good size.
I only give it four because the breakfast buffet service was terribly slow. The waitresses would forget our coffee, even when not busy. Also we didn’t get towels one day. Small things. Overall, a great stay. And reception is lovely.
